Weather Wednesday

It was misty this morning when I took the dogs out for their walk...
This photo doesn't do the clouds justice this afternoon... it was so pretty!
At the end of the work day there was one heck of a thunderstorm. I hung out at work for an extra half an hour so I wouldn't have to go out in the rain.  I don't think we had hail where I work, but on the way home, I took the above photo... THEY apparently got hail (it was only about a mile and a half from where I work).
There were thunderclouds in the distance when I got home, but *knock on wood*, it doesn't look like my neighborhood got any rain and it hasn't rained this afternoon.

Work went okay today, I had one client that was confused about their appointment time, but it worked out.  Nothing too exciting today (although there was a confrontation in our staff meeting this morning... I wasn't involved in that confrontation either).

Tonight I watched "The Voice" (after I took the dogs for a short walk) and then I gave the dogs a bath. Now it is already 9:15pm and I'd better be signing off and heading down to bed.

Some of my favorite Meersburg things...

 Going into Unterstadt (under town).
Here's the inside view looking back at the entrance to "unterstadt"
The promenade and the flowers that line the banks of the lake

This absurd pole that is at the end of the promenade... titled "Magic"  I think it is just weird, but in a funny way.
This house with a working waterwheel.

Work went okay today, everyone showed up and some of the folks I saw today are some that I really enjoy working with and will miss when they have to leave.

Tonight I got home and took the dogs out for our 2 1/2 mile walk... but it seemed to take a LOT longer tonight (like an extra half hour)... not sure why... although I kept stopping to listen to the birds (and took a couple photos)... I keep hoping I will hear another cuckoo bird, haven't heard one this year and only seem to hear them every other year... but... I keep hoping.

Now it's 9:30pm... I'd best sign off and head to bed.

G'night!

Butterflies and Mondays

Here are a few of the butterfly photos I took this weekend down on Mainau Island on Lake Constance, they have a butterfly habitat there.

Work went okay today, I had one no show this morning, but the rest of the day was fairly busy.  I did manage to get out of work about 4:45pm but had to make a couple stops on the way home (to do some shopping) so it was 6pm by the time I got home.

The weather outside today is cloudy, so I've just taken the dogs for a couple short walks (the last one just down to the fields and back).  I've not been doing much tonight... I watched "The Amazing Race". Tonight's episode ended in Engelburg, Switzerland on top of Mount Titlis and I was able to say... "Hey! I've been there!"

Right now I'm feeling overly stuffed, I had a personal pan pizza for dinner and then had a bowl of ice cream afterwards (something I haven't done in a LONG time... at least here at home... because I *did* have the "Spaghetti Ice down in Meersburg this past weekend). Ugh!  I should know better.  At least it is before 9pm tonight and I might make it into bed by 9:30pm tonight... that's a nice concept.  Last night I woke up about 2am and had trouble falling back to sleep.

Okay... signing off...

Beautiful day on Lake Constance!

This photo was taken at Meersburg on Lake Constance
On Minau Island... also known as "Flower island"

 And ABUNDANCE of flowers!
Meersburg from off shore...

So... we got a late start, we had planned to leave about 8:30am this morning, but the weather forecast said it was supposed to rain down in Meersburg until about 10am and then be "partly sunny."  (I took my American neighbors down to Meersburg on Lake Constance). We went through a nearby town (Holzgerlingen) and so we stopped at the Pet Store where I get my dogs their food and most of their treats... they have 3 cats, and it's a wonderful store, so now they know where it is.

The trip down to Meersburg was great, we took a slower, more scenic route.  We got to Meersburg and the weather was FANTASTIC!  We went down to the lower part of the town on the lake there and found out there was a boat leaving within a few minutes to head out to Minau Island, so we hopped right on and then spent most of the day out there on the island. I love the boat ride back and forth and the flowers were very much in bloom. We could have hardly asked for a nicer day.

After we got back to Meersburg, we had dinner... I had fresh grilled fish from Lake Constance, along with some white Asparagus and some parsley potatoes. NUM, NUM!  Then we finished walking through the lower town and headed to the upper, older part of town.  As we were leaving there (about 7pm), we stopped for some ice cream before hitting the road...I got some "spaghetti ice!" (they put vanilla ice through a press, so it comes out looking like spaghetti and then they use strawberry syrup to make it look like tomato sauce and finely ground nuts to look like the Parmesan cheese.
 My dinner...
And my desert! *smiles*

We made good time coming home (took the quicker route) and got home about 9:15... just in time for me to walk the dogs before a huge storm blew in!  And since then I've been uploading photos to Facebook I took today.  now it's 1:15am... way past my bedtime... but I plan to sleep in tomorrow! *smiles*

Here comes the rain...

I took this a couple mornings ago... sun was coming up behind me, onto the field where I walk my dogs (in the morning before I head to work... and then after work as well).
Stormy clouds settling in as I got ready to take the dogs out for their walk after I got off work.
Macro shot of a bumble bee! *smiles*
The dogs checking everything out along our walk... (we did the 2.5 mile walk)
Peanut LOVES to sniff... and sniff... and sniff
Plane coming in for a landing over the field... (apple tree orchards)
The sky not long before sunset... see the rays?  I was actually over at one of my German neighbors' house when I took this photo, first time I've seen her place. It's small, but nice.  If I were living without my dogs, and had to pay rent out of my own pocket, it would be an ideal place to live (if nothing else, she has a great view of the sunset each evening! *wink*).

Work went okay today, one of my appointments cancelled because their kids were out of school today, the other appointment was a pain... but that's another story.  I went out to lunch with my supervisor and one of my other Social Worker co-workers, we went and had Schnitzel! Num, num!

This afternoon I just caught up on my notes and looked at next week's schedule and did some prep work for the appointments I have on Monday.  Then the guy in charge of our clinic gave us all permission to leave an hour early.  My supervisor was meeting with someone (we aren't supposed to see anyone on Friday afternoons, but we are also not supposed to leave anyone seeing a patient alone... so I popped my head into her office to ask if I could leave (the other Social Worker... who came in a half hour late this morning... and 15 mins late yesterday... said she was going to leave, so it was going to be up to me to stay so my supervisor wasn't alone... and quite frankly... I *didn't* want to stay.  It seems like those times when we are told we can leave an hour early, either I have notes to finish up or something going on and I never get the full hour off (while the other Social Workers generally takes off)... so I said to heck with it today!). MY work was done (I can GUARANTEE the other Social Worker's work was NOT done)... so I didn't want to hang around... on top of that... I was finally FREE from the ON CALL phone.  So... I came home and took the dogs out for a 2.5 mile walk, talked with my American neighbors across the street (AND introduced them to my one German neighbor that lives across the lot from them that speaks excellent English).  I came home and had some dinner (and then later tonight I had some fresh strawberries!).  I did go over to the German neighbor's house and sat and talked with her awhile.  We met while out walking, she does  a lot of walking out in the woods (but doesn't have a dog, just a boyfriend! *wink*).

I got home and watched some CSI on TV... and now it's raining and I need to head to bed, because I'm planning on heading out on a road trip tomorrow morning with my neighbors... just not sure which direction to head in yet.  MY weather app says that there is a 60% chance of rain in Rothenburg Ob der Tauber (one of our options)... a 50% chance of rain in Meersburg (on Lake Constance... another option), but then it says there's NO chance of rain in Strasbourg, just clouds... (so we could head over to Monkey Mountain).  I'll decide in the morning and talk with them about which direction we go. Who knows... maybe this weather system we are having tonight will blow over and tomorrow will be nice.

Okay... signing off...

More sunset photos from tonight

 Fingers in the sky
How cool is this photo when I zoomed out to get a closer view of the sunset...

Work went okay today, I was able to keep up with all of my notes. I had one no show, but that's fine.  At the end of the day we had a meeting and then after work I went out to the town of Tubingen to see a young co-worker who had a little girl 2 days ago... so I got to hold little Grace and see Mama & Daddy.

Isn't Grace cute!

Okay... it's late, I'm on the phone with my friends Walt & Bette, today is Walt's 89th birthday.

Okay, signing off!

Short Post

The dogs playing hide and go seek in the fields! *smiles*

Work went okay today, not busy at all, although since I had two appointments at the end of the day, those notes didn't get written.  Since I am on call, I have gotten a couple calls tonight related to something that happened at the end of the day.  Since I can't say anything more about it, can I just ask that you pray for the "G" family?

After work I did go get my nails done, and picked up a VERY belated birthday card for a certain someone who, I think, turns 90 tomorrow!  Happy Birthday Walt... wish I were there to give you a hug! But... maybe a surprise will do. *wink*

Okay... keeping this short because it is after 10pm and past my bedtime.

What an AWESOME night for a sunset!

The sky late this afternoon... I loved the sunbeams!

 The hills are ablaze...

Aren't these some lovely sunset photos? I took about 50 photos tonight... it was gorgeous at sunset!

Let's see... today work went well... I had a couple cancellations, a no show, one that called in and was scheduled for later in the day today and I had a belly ache most of the day.  I actually dozed during lunch.  Had one of my morning appointments not moved to the afternoon and my last appointment reschedule (after the other had rescheduled to this afternoon), I might have taken the afternoon off and come home and rested.  But, alas, that didn't happen.  One of my co-workers is out anyway, she went home not feeling well yesterday (I think it's allergies) and then called in sick today.  So, the day was fairly quiet.  I have an easy day tomorrow (and I think every day this week I am have open appointment times).  I think I mentioned, that back in February (when I basically worked the whole month, minus the holidays) that I had the least amount of no shows, the least amount of patient cancellations and the least amount of facility cancellations (where I would need to cancel an appointment for some reason).  I'm going to look at the month of May (when I should be in the office the majority of the month) and see what those stats are.  My guess is that I will have more no shows and cancellations... a lot more.

Not much going on tonight... just watched "The Voice" and did some laundry and had the dogs out twice.

Now it's about 9:15pm, and I'm going to sign off and head downstairs to bed.

G'night.

Easter Monday

Last year when I went up to the Kuekenhof Gardens, I bought this "Tulip" vase.  I like using it. (Usually it is between the curtain and the window, but I wanted to take this photo and when I try to take it from outside of the house, there was too much glare on the window).

Work went VERY easy today. I had two appointments reschedule and I had one appointment where only 1 person of the 2 showed up (less notes). Needless to say, I was happily able to get my notes done today! AND... I got out of work relatively on time.  It was a quiet day, there was only my supervisor, one of the Psychologists and myself there (in addition to one of the Psychiatrists).  We are short 2 Behavioral Health providers and we had 2 on leave today.  Today - Easter Monday is a German holiday, so traffic was really light.

It was raining this afternoon, but the rain stopped just as I took the dogs out for their walk.   We did two short walks tonight.  I *did* get my suitcases emptied tonight, and I've got some laundry going, but I need to fold and put a LOT of clothes away.

Okay... I'm signing off...

Happy Easter & Psychedelic Easter Eggs

I love my Polish Pottery egg holder... like my psychedelic eggs? *smiles*

A closer view of a few of the eggs...
 The Lilac bushes are blooming!
What happens when you ask my dogs "Where's the cat?" (they get all excited, bounce up and down and Bruno jumps up on two legs trying to get a better view!) LOL!

So... this morning I overslept, and quickly boiled some eggs (a dozen) and then stuck them in cold water afterwards (with ice in the water) and took the dogs for their walk, then got ready to go to Church.  The young teenager (she's 13) neighbor was in an Easter Program at Church today and they invited me to come. They had to leave early, so they gave me the address for where their church holds their services (in an office building).   When I got there, another family was going in, so I followed them up in the Elevator... went in and stood by a chair and kept looking for my friend, while everyone was singing.  I thought it was weird when the words on the screen (projected up on the screen) were not in German OR English... it looked like Turkish or something. After 5-10 minutes I decided I must have been at the wrong place, and went to leave. I tried to ask someone if they spoke English or German... they didn't.  But, we were finally able to figure out that I wanted to be in the Church service two floors below! I walked in and my neighbor was right there! The Easter program was nice, although I think someone went into too much effort creating different "sets" for each of the scene, that got to be a little distracting.

After church I came home and finished my deviled eggs and took the dogs out one more time. I ended up getting over to my Supervisor's house for lunch a half hour late (they had just started with the first course).  Dinner was good... ham and (home-made) scalloped potatoes! That's my all-time favorite dinner (one that my Mom used to make on occasion).  We also had a cold cucumber soup, a salad, and mixed veggies! A LOT of food (and angel food cake with fruit).

After I left there, I went by the American grocery store to pick up some Whip Cream for my strawberries. I had strawberries with whip cream tonight... and now I still have two more quarts of strawberries to get eaten this week!

Okay... it's 9:40pm, I had better sign off and think about heading to bed.
