Lazy Saturday...

 Church in Sindelfingen
I wonder what this statue is supposed to represent? Here, you don't have enough on, I'm going to give you this?  I don't know... it's just weird.  These photos were taken near where my German Vet's office is (where I take my dogs in a case of urgency, when I am unable to schedule them with the American Vet in the area).

So... yea... a lazy day.  I stayed up until 3am reading (on my Kindle App) and still hadn't finished the book... but I decided that by then the on-call cell phone must have been charged enough... So... I stayed in bed til about 11am (I did get up early and let the dogs out back to go potty).  Usually when I wake up in the morning, I lay in bed and read my emails and read facebook.  Oh yea... I also went through and got some photos from my transatlantic cruise to put on Facebook as I ask friends to help me choose the best photos so I can use them for the 2014 calendar.  I hope to get it made (uploaded) by the middle of September so I can get them ordered (I have a "credit" with the company from last year's order that should cover most of the cost of the printing of the calendars... but the credit is only good for a year).

Other than that, I've had the dogs out a couple times, and I did walk over to the local German store to pick up a couple things (I mainly needed the German dishwasher stuff). Otherwise, my car hasn't left it's parking spot all day.  And thankfully, no calls on the on-call phone (other than the one person I got the phone from last night (that had kept it for the evening as she resolved some issues that had carried over from the day). She called just to check and see how things were going).

Okay... signing off...

My gosh... what a day!

 The morning started off misty...
The evening sky looked like it was ablaze!

So! It was a REAL challenge to get my documentation done today.  First of all... my "acting" supervisor decided she needed to have a meeting, so I listened to her rattle on and on for almost an hour and a half.  Then... she had an appointment (had kept the person waiting 20 mins!)... and just after she went back to the office, a Domestic Violence call came in... so I went ahead and took it (and of course... when I spoke to her, she wanted me to type EVERYTHING up and I basically had to deal with that most of the morning).  I didn't even leave and go anywhere for lunch. (I did have a sandwich and some chips at my desk and checked my email).  Then the issue we were dealing with REALLY blew up later in the day... and even though I had finished up right at 3:30pm and had GOOD intentions of getting out of there a little early today... it wasn't meant to be.  And as it turned out... because the co-worker went ahead and got the on-call phone for the afternoon because she was expecting a call back on it... between 4 & 4:45 she kept receiving calls on the phone. So... between calls she had offered to just take on-call for the weekend, and I finally suggested she go ahead and take it tonight so she could deal with the issue at hand. (I HAD to get out of there because Peanut had a follow-up Vet appointment about her right ear that was infected... it *is* doing much better thankfully today).  Anyway... so... yea, I ran home and got the dogs and took them over to the Vet and got there a few minutes late... and yes, Peanut was doing much better.  This was the German Vet I took them too... and his assistant made a comment about how well my "small" dogs do. (They DO behave very well for the Vets!).

I took the dogs for a short walk before we headed back home (and will post a couple pictures, maybe later this week that I took near where the Vet's office is).  We came home, I checked my emails and then took the dogs out for a walk.  We were gone a little over an hour (I was busy taking photos) and then coming back, my neighbors were out so I stopped and talked with them for awhile. That was around 8:30 or so.  I decided to come on home and make something for dinner (just decided something quick and easy... a microwavable pizza) and sat down to eat it and looked at my Facebook and saw that my one co-worker was trying to get in touch with me. I don't know why my phone didn't ring, I had it on (I need to check it out)... and come to find out... when she passed the on-call phone over to me yesterday, she hadn't bothered to charge it all week (that she had it)... and so with all the talking she did on the phone today, the phone battery went dead. SO... she was asking me to come meet her back at the office (a 20 min drive each way) so she could have the charger.  Since by 9 or so things had calmed down, I suggested I just take the on-call phone back and keep it (so I wouldn't have to go track her down sometime tomorrow). The situation from today is resolved... at least until Sunday afternoon. Whew!  But I have to say... I was NOT impressed by her behavior at ALL today and I wasn't the only one who witnessed, what I felt to be some VERY inappropriate behavior. And then listening to her tonight (tell me things that I was present for this afternoon)... makes me wonder if she is just really losing it (mentally).  I will be SO glad when my supervisor is back next week and can be a buffer.

Okay... nuff complaining. I'd better sign off it's midnight.  But at least, if it can be relatively quiet over the weekend... it's a 3 day weekend, so I hope to get some housecleaning done and take it easy.

Good dinner...

My dinner tonight... trout and parsley, buttered potatoes... num, num!
A couple donkeys that are at the restaurant where we went for dinner tonight...

So... work went okay, I had a busy morning and then had a free afternoon to concentrate on documentation, but then that got interrupted a couple times, so needless to say, I didn't finish my paperwork.  BUT... there *is* tomorrow and I *do* plan to get it finished tomorrow (no appointments are scheduled).

After work I ran home and let the dogs out and then went to join some co-workers for dinner as we said our "Good-byes" to one of our co-workers who are leaving.  We went to a restaurant in the woods near where I live. It's the 2nd time I've been there.  I was thinking dinner was scheduled for 5:30pm, so I showed up about 5:15pm, only to find out that it wasn't scheduled until 6pm! Fortunately, a couple of my co-workers showed up about 5:40 or so. I just sat in my car and read (after taking pictures of the donkeys).

Okay... it's already 9:30pm, I think I'll sign off for tonight.

More Macro shots

Some flowers from the neighborhood (sure glad my neighbors have "green thumbs" because *I* sure don't!).

So... work was easy today although I didn't get as much done as I had hoped. I got distracted by a couple people (one co-worker in particular that doesn't have enough to do... but after she got done with me, then she bothered another co-worker for about 45 minutes! She needs to do some work).

Other than that... not much going on. I picked up some stuff at the store so I could make a modified version of my mama's ranch dressing.  Num, num! I made a steak and baked potato for dinner and had some of the dressing on my baked potato.  It's better when it sits at least overnight to really develop some flavor.  I'll look forward to having some chip dip tomorrow!

I have a fairly busy morning scheduled for tomorrow, but I had an intake scheduled for tomorrow afternoon that cancelled. So... it will be an easier day than I expected. Hopefully I can get my notes done in a timely fashion tomorrow because after work we have a going away party for a co-worker that's moving to Georgia.

Okay... not much else to write about tonight.

Another busy day today... but easier tomorrow

This is Schloss (translated Castle) Lichenstein, high up on a hill (taken through my car window on the way there)
This was taken with my Canon (powershot) before it froze up on me and I had to use my Ipad to take pictures.
And, here's probably the best picture I got with my Canon before it went into protest mode... but I *do* like this photo.

So... work WAS busy today... I caught a break early this morning when I had a no-show, but then the rest of the day made up for it. I saw 5 new people today, so have to write up 5 new assessments (7 pages each).  I had taken a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich for lunch, so just ate lunch in my office.

On the way home I stopped to see about a new camera (I had returned my Nikon a week or so ago and got a full refund on it because it went belly-up. I had gotten it during the day after Thanksgiving sale last year).  Anyway, I've decided to go with something similar to what I had, so I got a Canon SX500 IS. It's a crossover between a regular pocket-sized point and shoot and one of those larger cameras that you change out lenses on.  This particular camera has a 30X zoom (can't remember what the Nikon had, but it was fairly good too).  I hope this camera works for awhile.  I've always liked Canon cameras and have been drawn to them.  Because they have similar "menus" on the camera, it's easy to transition between the various Canon cameras.  I'll keep you posted on how I like it as the days go on.

Not much else going on... came home and took the dogs out for their walk. We just went out to the field since it was threatening to rain (lightly misting at times), and I let them off their leashes to run and expend some energy.  I was trying to work with Bruno to "stay", but it is really a challenge with two dogs.  Sometimes Peanut WOULD stay... and Bruno... I think being afraid that she might bolt before he did and get a treat... would NOT stay.  And heaven forbid if Peanut DIDN'T stay... it was harder for Bruno to be obedient.  After awhile I felt like I was doing a "Mother May I" game... It's obvious that they both need more practice in this area... but Bruno needs it more than Peanut.

And we did just have a heavy downpour a few minutes ago.

I could have gone out to dinner with some of my co-workers tonight, one of the eye docs got married last month and they were having a belated wedding dinner (shower?) for them.  I guess I'm not feeling very social... I usually try to make those things... but didn't feel up to going. I'll be going out to dinner (closer to home) on Thursday night for one of our Social Workers who is leaving and then Friday after work I have to take Peanut back to the Vet.  As it was, I didn't get home til just after 6 tonight anyway.

Okay... signing off.

Crazy Monday

Cloudy evening in Germany, sun is getting ready to set.
 More macro flower shots

Well... work was crazy today.  Besides having to spend my first hour listening to a co-worker complain (drama drama drama), then I was busy with patients the rest of the day.  I had three this morning (9, 10 and 11 that ran until about 12:15pm) and then this afternoon I had an intake (which took almost 2 hours) and then I had a 3pm appointment. And then the *same* co-worker came in about 4:15 to tell me something and I ended up not getting out of the office until about 5pm! ARGH!

Afterwards I had to go to the store and pick up a few groceries before coming home.  I took the dogs out for a walk (an hour long, but most of that time was ME trying to stop at anything that might look remotely interesting and trying to take MACRO photos! LOL!).

Tonight I've been watching "Unforgettable" (about a woman that works with the Police Department that has a photographic memory, it's kind of cool).  And I'm also watching "Army Wives."

Okay... signing off for another day.

Macro Photos

 Falling leaves...
 Rain dripping off of apples
Another close up of rain droplets
Wet flowers in front of my house

So... today has been a rainy day here in Germany.  I've spent a lot of my time today sorting through photos for my upcoming 2014 calendar (and have posted 52 photos/options on my Facebook page).  I may go ahead and add some I took in December, from Italy, France, Spain and the Canary Islands, just for more choices.

I also joined a facebook group that focuses (ha ha... pun intended) on MACRO or "close-up" photos. I posted the above to the group today.  (Don't understand if we are supposed to post 5 photos a day or not MORE than 5 photos a day, I'm sure I'll get some clarification soon).  I thought it would be a way for me to grow in my Photography hobby. *smiles*

Not much else going on today... I had some honey-glazed salmon for dinner along with some brown rice. Tasted pretty good. It's 8:30pm and I'm watching a "Chef's program on TV. (Although the rain is playing havoc with the Cable reception).

Okay... signing off for another day. Need to go fold and put some clothes away and think about what I want to wear this week and then head to bed by about 9:30pm.

Oh yea... and did I mention I met my new neighbors (who moved into Tamie and Curt's old place). They seem really nice.  (Dave, Donna and Sydney).

Schloss Lichtenstein today...

After taking it easy this morning (when the weather was nicer!)... I decided to run some errands. I had to go get some gas and then I headed up to Schloss Lichtenstein (which is less than an hour away from where I live).  I'll be posting this pictures from my trip up there today.  What an awesome view though (but you had to go INSIDE to get this photo).  It had been raining heavily with some thunder and lightening in the area when I first got there, so I sat and read "Inferno" until the rain let up. And so when I went into the castle, it was still raining lightly and it was misty. Hence the photo above (if you click on the photo, you can enlarge it and it looks neater).

Other than that, I stopped by a new store in the area, they have a pet store as part of the larger store complex. I ended up picking up some treats for the doggies.

Tonight I'm watching "The Life of Timothy Green" on TV.  I did get a call from my boss today, apparently she had an aunt die in the States, so she is going to head back to the States for a week. The only downside to that, is that my least favorite co-worker will be the interim supervisor. UGH! I hope all goes okay this coming week.

Okay... signing off...

Whew, another week passed

This was earlier this evening (just before sunset time).

So... work was a pain today, well, at least part of. I have one co-worker who is very dramatic and not happy unless they are stirring up drama... one of those kind of people where "it's ALL about me." So... the co-worker was stirring up drama today. Argh.  Really? Can't you just go entertain yourself?  I did have two appointments today and I spent another 45 minutes on the phone with another person who had missed an appointment earlier this week.  And we did have our work "picnic" today which was rather chaotic (who doesn't think about needing a place to sit when there is a picnic... and having it in a parking lot where there aren't picnic tables).  I brought my own reclining chair (although some people made fun of me... but at least I had a place to sit).

We did get out of work a little early today, which worked out well because I was able to take Peanut to the German Vet then.  Peanut's been shaking her head a lot (ear infection), so I wanted to get her in sooner than later... so we went to the Civilian Vet that she has seen in the past. And yes... she basically has an ear infection.  After a visit to the Vet, I took the dogs for a short walk around a nearby park (someplace new to explore).

My new neighbors have moved in, so I baked some chocolate chip cookies up (I had the dough in my refrigerator) and went over to meet them.  Dave and Donna and they have a daughter named Sydney.  They seem like a nice family (they have 3 cats!).

Tonight I've been trying to figure out a place to go visit... get out of "Dodge" kind of thing tomorrow. I had talked about going to Europa Park with a friend tomorrow... but she can't go... so not sure what I'll do.  Maybe I can do something on Sunday?  I should see if there are any volksmarches around and go on one of those.

Okay... guess I'll sign off... It's 11pm, need to think about heading to bed sometime soon.

One of those days...

Another beautiful floral photo! *smiles*

So... today was one of those days... I felt grumpy most of the day.  It started this morning, I had gone into ask my boss something and someone interrupted (I needed her help with something)... so I went and worked on a note I had left from yesterday to write, and I thought she had gone to her 8am meeting.  But, she was with one of my other co-workers. Then I went for my BLS (Basic Life Savings) class, that was one of the better part of the day... I was the only student! So, we got done a little earlier than we would have otherwise.  When I got done, I couldn't talk with my boss because she was with someone.  Then, when I looked at her at lunch time she wasn't in her office, so I went and got a sandwich and walked over to one of the outside tables near where I work and sat and read for awhile (I'm plugging through Dan Brown's book "Inferno").  After lunch I was told my boss had gone to a meeting, and then I had 2 appointments. I get done just after 4pm, only to have someone come and say we are supposed to go downstairs for some cake for one of our co-worker's birthday (love these LAST minute notices).  And by then my boss said she was too wiped out to help me and asked me to ask someone else.  I think that was just part of it.  Not sure what was going on with my mood.  Maybe it is post-vacation blues (I want to be back on vacation). At least I am done with being on-call.

Today I got a call about my camera that I thought was going to get repaired. They called and apparently they weren't able to fix it, so they said they were going to refund my money. (BUT... I got it on one heck of a sale the day after Thanksgiving, so it's not like I can just go out and buy a new one of the same quality for the same price).  Argh.  So, I had to stop by the store after work to deal with that.

Tomorrow we are having a picnic for work in the afternoon.  I've suggested to several people that we should just pick up some Ice Cream, Rootbeer (Diet and regular), cups and spoons and go with that for our clinic. While several people said it would be a great idea... no one wanted to take the lead on it (I had suggested it to our "Chief" last night in a message and to the head technician in our department... figured they could talk about it at the meeting this afternoon (I don't go to that meeting), but apparently no one said anything). I stopped by one of our smaller stores and was just going to go ahead and pick up some Rice Krispy cereal and some marshmallows to make Rice Krispy Squares, but wouldn't you know it... they were out of the cereal.  I could probably make *something* I have enough stuff around here, but honestly, I just don't feel like it.  I *will* take in a cooler tomorrow and an ice cream scoop in case someone wants to go ahead with the Rootbeer float plan.  Otherwise, I might just boycott the meeting to work on my documentation so I don't have to do any work over the weekend.

Okay... not much else going on, so will sign off.

Poor planning on your part... does not constitute an emergency on MY part

Just a pretty flower picture from earlier in the year.  Which reminds me... I need to start figuring out which pictures I want on my 2014 calendars and start working on that project.

Work went okay today, it was relatively easy. I only had 3 appointments scheduled, and one of those was a no-show.  I didn't bring my lunch in today so I walked over to a "Taco Bell" (yea... we have access to one of those over here).  At least I got all my notes done so I didn't have to bring work home (and in hindsight, I could have waited until to do the assessment that I brought home last night and got done).  The title is related to the fact that when I finished my session about 4:05 people were asking me if I knew we had a meeting scheduled for 4:15. WHAT? Apparently they sent out an email sometime after 3pm and wanted us all there.  THAT's the kind of thing that drives me nuts. If it just happened ONCE in awhile, that would be one thing, but it seems to happen all the time.

Not doing anything tonight... just enjoying "America's Got Talent" (especially since I missed it last week).

I *did* have a good dinner. I grilled some salmon filets (two of them) and had some asparagus (finished it from last night).  Num num!

Tomorrow I only have two appointments scheduled in the afternoon, but that's because I'll be spending the morning in a Basic Life Saving class. (Fun! But, I need the training every two years).

Okay... signing off.

Another busy day...

Remembering good times when I visited Crater Lake
So, work went okay today, it was steadily busy (after about a 2 hour meeting!).  I got all my notes done from yesterday except for two and I didn't any notes written from yesterday, but I did bring home an "assessment" to type up. I still need to do that.

Didn't do much after work (today was probably boring in the light of eternity), I had to stop and pick up some groceries and then I came home and made some dinner.  Dinner consisted of a chicken breast that had been flattened out, spread Greek yogurt on it, then some seasonings, a piece of green onion and a piece of bacon, then I rolled that up and wrapped a piece of bacon around it. Other than cooking it a little too long, it turned out pretty good, and then I had some asparagus to go with it.

Tonight I baked a cherry coffee cake that I plan to take into work tomorrow for our staff meeting. I still need to drizzle some frosting on top and then I will sprinkle some almond slivers on top.  Should be good... I haven't made one like this in a long time. *smiles*

Okay... signing off to get my assessment written up while I finish watching the movie "Darling Companion" on TV (google it, it has been kind of interesting).

Busy Monday...

Today was my brother Charlie's birthday (aka "Santa"). It was great to see him when I was home in July!  I thought I'd post this picture.

Work went okay today, it was fairly busy. I had a little bit of a lull this afternoon, but then got distracted by co-workers... one that is getting ready to leave, another that was asking about a house in my neighborhood that is going to be available soon for rental.  And even though I know they mean well... I didn't get some paperwork done that I had planned to this afternoon (so I've brought work home with me).

Not much else to write about... just enjoying the ability to watch some TV tonight! *smiles*

Just a quick blog!

This was a photo my daughter took of the sunset over the Oregon Mountain range while we were at Crater Lake (up at the Forest Service look out tower... one side looks out over the mountain, the other side looks over the Lake).  Anyway... she had this one blown up and put on canvas and has it hanging above her bed.  Guess who she got her love of sunsets from? *smiles*

So... after a fairly relaxing day, I left to go do some errands about 5pm, thinking I'd be home by 8 or so. NOT. I didn't get home til 10:30pm!  First of all... I had to spend time finding a receipt for a camera I had bought this past year, because while we were on our Crater Lake trip (in fact, the night the above photo was taken), my camera stopped working. So, I needed to find the receipt so I could take it into the store, so they could send it in for repair.  The guy at the store tried to see if he could fix it (even put a brand new battery into it, but that didn't help).  So... hopefully I'll have it back in a month or so.  I also managed to find a birthday card for my younger brother Don, that I had bought for his 50th birthday, but for some reason it didn't get sent (probably couldn't find it at the time).  So... he's getting it THIS year, for his 54th! Birthday! *smiles* It's one of those cards that talk about all the things that happened the year you were born.

So... after going to the store, (and grabbing a bite to eat there, thankfully I did), I went into work to finish up notes from this past week. I thought it would take me 2 hours max, but I ended up being there 4 hours!  I had two intake/assessment notes to write, and I like to review a patient's notes before I write it up so I have an accurate history and one particular note took a LONG time because they've had a lot of mental health history.  Then, two other notes I wrote were for 2nd time notes so I had to include a treatment plan, and THAT took longer than I thought.  But... the notes are done and I can start off the week with a fresh start (and I have a fairly busy day scheduled for tomorrow, at least in the morning).

No calls from the "on-call" phone this weekend (other than Friday night), so THAT's good.

Okay...signing off... it's 11pm.

Nice to have a relaxing, stay-at-home Saturday!

And here are some photos from sunset tonight in Germany... beautiful sky!

So, yes, it *has* been a relaxing day today.  Although I did get a call last night while "on-call", someone wanting to talk with a Social Worker, so I passed on the message that I'd be happy to come in today and meet with them, but then never got a call back (this was in relation to a situation that happened yesterday, that my other co-worker said she would handle, and so when I called late last night... she told me *I* could handle it... *whatever*).

I finally got my TV (Satellite hook-up) working again. Whew! A part of the cable includes a flat piece that is route through a door/window on the side of my living room. Apparently that had stopped functioning. Thankfully I had a spare flat piece that I was able to use. So... I'm able to watch TV once more.  And I fixed it all myself! *smiles*

Other than that, I think the only other thing I've done today is laundry.  I've got it washed, but need to get it hung up and put away.  I wish I were more organized and energetic, I'd love to be one of those type people who like to iron and have everything ready on a Sunday night, for the following week (as far as clothes go).  I could be one of those people... but I'm not.  I also wish I were one of those people who clean when they get stressed. I'm not.  IF that were the case... I'd have a clean house a lot! LOL. (well... all things considered... my house *isn't* dirty and I'm one of the few people I work with who are single and *don't* have a house-keeper come in weekly or bi-weekly to clean their homes).

Okay... signing off for another night.

Wow... what a weird Friday!

This was a cool mural in the restaurant MiTiera in San Antonio, it was actually painted 3D.

SO... yes, work was weird today. I stayed up later than I should have last night... I made chicken in the crockpot to take in for a potluck today and I also made some chocolate chip cookies. Then, of course... we had WAY too much food. I cleaned up my stuff, but when I went down to get my stuff at the end of the day, a lot of people hadn't taken care of THEIR stuff (and I didn't have time to take care of it for them).  My boss was out today, she's taking a long weekend (I mentioned that yesterday). I'm on call, but normally during the day, if a domestic violence (DV) related call comes in, it goes straight to the front desk, or to my supervisor. Anyway, a call came in today and I heard enough, but couldn't say anything (because I had a client at the time), so asked the caller to call the front desk and ask for the DV Social worker.  It was interesting that when I went to talk to the other Social Worker, they said VERY little about the call, other than if anything came in about it over the weekend, I'm supposed to contact them and let them handle it.  At first it didn't bother me, but then I got to thinking about it and if that person doesn't think I can handle a call over the weekend (she's NOT my boss and I'm sure my boss would not say that!), then I was half tempted to just hand her the phone and tell her that obviously she can handle ALL the calls that might come in! I've decided that when my supervisor comes in next week, I'm going to talk to her about it.  And while I will admit, this is an "interesting" (that may not be the right term, how about "complex") situation, I've had MANY of those before and will continue to do so in the future.  Then when there was a new development later on in the day, the other person (while she could be heard all the way down the hall talking about) apparently felt I didn't need to know anymore, but by then I had already heard from someone else what was going on.  I don't know. I guess I just was feeling "left out of the loop" and on one hand, I know I've been gone for the better part of the month, and so maybe some of that is to be expected, on the other hand... if my "on-call" phone is going to ring, I think I need to have as much information as possible to make informed decisions. So... I remind myself... breathe... and "this too shall pass."

THEN... we had a large meeting of most of our clinic folks at the end of the day and were given some "shocking" news (ha... but I "called" it ... or shall I say I wondered out loud, about what the meeting was about and I was right).  Our clinic will be going through some tough times over the next month and those in leadership need some prayers (and at least the head person would *appreciate* some prayers, I'm sure).

After work I hustled home and took the dogs out for a walk and then went and got my nails done, did a little bit of shopping and got a bite to eat.

Now it's almost 11pm and I probably should head to bed. It's funny, the dogs have been pestering me since about 10pm... they know when it's bedtime! *smiles*  So... I guess I'll sign off.  At least I get to sleep in tomorrow morning (provided the "on-call" phone doesn't ring).

Baking tonight...

These are some more photos from the Japanese Gardens (two different buildings, the top two are the same building, but the bottom one is a restaurant or something). Again, these were from San Antonio.

So... work was relatively busy today, no cancellations and got to see some clients that I haven't seen for awhile.  Nothing too out of the ordinary.  My boss is taking off for the weekend (Friday and Monday) and she's going to head to Copenhagen... she said she hasn't been there in 26 years or something! (WOW!).

The Chief of our clinic sent out an email suggesting a potluck tomorrow, so I've decided to make some chicken the crockpot (chicken breasts, cream of chicken soup, minced garlic, Italian seasonings, diced onion). I hope it comes out okay.  I also decided to go ahead and make my chocolate chip cookies, so the 2nd batch is baking now (and I think that's all I'm going to bake, since it is now 10pm!

I'm on call as of tonight (although my one co-worker thought she had it until Monday for some reason)... so I have "the" phone.

Okay... keeping this short... I've got to get the last batch of cookies out, clean up a little and head to bed.  BTW... I *didn't* get my cable TV fixed, so I guess I will need to contact someone for some help. *sad smile*

Some of the colorful flowers that were at the Japanese gardens (in San Antonio) last week. Beautiful!

So... work went okay today, I had one cancellation, got *some* notes done and saw a few clients.  I have a quandary for lunch though.  To save money, I thought I'd bring my lunch.  However, when I bring my lunch, I end up staying in the building (today I spent half my lunch hour discussing a case with my boss and the other half eating my sandwich in my office). So... if I bring a lunch, I end up not doing ANY walking. If I buy lunch, at least I get a couple blocks worth of walking in.  Wish I were more disciplined in walking at lunchtime, but work tends to be distracting (OR I need a distraction from work, or check on my emails etc at lunchtime).  I miss where I used to work (in another location) because there was a German cantina just up the street and it was relatively quiet (I went there Monday on my "furlough" day and they knew exactly what I wanted and how I wanted it, even though I've been away from that area for a couple years now, just stopping in on occasion). I used to like going to the Cantina because it WAS quiet and I would often take my iPad and read (a book). I don't have any place similar near where I am currently working.  Quiet is in my office.

After work  a few of us Social Workers (and one Psychiatrist) stayed after to talk... about work stuff and frustrations and other stuff... and as a consequence I didn't get home until after 6pm.  I hate when I do that. While it is nice to "chat", I don't like being there at work so long. (I don't get paid to be there after hours).  And then when I got home, I couldn't get my satellite/TV to work, (it wasn't working yesterday when I got home from work). And I can't figure it out.  I've tried re-connecting cables, powering down and up, resetting the tuner (for the cable TV)... moving the satellite dish and I just can't figure it out.  I've sent an email asking for help, so I'll see if that works.  If not, I may need to have someone come over and look at it for me.  But, while there wasn't anything on TV last night that I wanted to watch... tonight we had "America's Got Talent" on and I *did* want to watch that.  There was a girl from my hometown on tonight and I was really hoping to see it. ARGH!

Okay... signing off... hoping for some good dreams (last night I dreamt that I was walking cross country (IN another country) and had to walk about 30 miles. I think it was Scotland. I was with some friends initially, but somehow we got separated and I ended up in a town that I had been to before and found out that it was only about 8 miles to get to where I had started, had I taken a different route.  Hmmm... interesting).

Peanut's Paw

 Peanut's right front paw
Peanut's right front paw and her left back paw

I know it's hard to tell in these pictures, but the fronts of her paws are discolored a little reddish.  She's had the problem since she was in Hawaii, but I thought I had gotten it cleared up.  It has been progressively getting worse (because she keeps licking them).  The last time I had her in the Vet about 6 months ago, they gave me some wipes to use, thinking it was a fungal infection. But, when I had her in to get her teeth cleaned the end of July, the doc (a different Vet) looked at it and took a swab, he gave me some antibiotics for her. But then he got the results back while I was in Texas and I finally got to talk to him today. He said that she has a bacterial infection that is resistant to the antibiotic he prescribed me and that he would write another prescription for me to pick up for her, which I did after work today. (The one she had before was called "Cephalexin" and the one I picked up today was "Zeniquin" (she only has to take this one 1x a day whereas the first one she was supposed to take 2x a day)).  Hopefully this one will work for her.

Other than that, work went okay today, I had a full, busy day (and have another one tomorrow).  Tonight I've just been on the computer (I think the TV station/satellite is down, but there wasn't anything good on tonight anyway). I did get the dogs out for a couple walks. The temperatures have cooled down here as well, I think it got up to the low 70's (but was in the mid-60's most of the day).

Okay... signing off.

Last Furlough Day...

One night in San Antonio I got to meet up with some friends from Alaska.  We went to the Japanese Gardens after we had dinner at Papadeaux.  It was an awesome evening.

Today has been a fairly lazy day.  I slept in (still catching up on sleep), and then after walking the dogs I ran some errands.  I needed to go shopping for some food (I've been gone for about a month total in the last 6 months).

Tonight I've been just watching some TV, but it's 9:30 and time for bed. Tomorrow it's back to work for me. *smiles*  No more time off until Labor Day (which isn't TOO far away).

Okay... signing off...

I made it back okay!

I didn't take too many pictures while I was in San Antonio, nor did I go very many places (other than shopping the first day there, and then out with friends a couple times for meals). On the first night of my training I went with 9 of my classmates to this restaurant which is pretty famous in San Antonio, it sure was colorful!  I had the "Mexican Plate" with traditional Hispanic food.  We had a good time down there.

So, I finally made it back to Germany, about 20 hours later than I was scheduled to arrive.  The flights were fine although I only had about 45 minutes to change planes in Atlanta, and had to go from the Domestic terminal to the International Terminal. My flight to Germany was already boarding by the time we landed in Atlanta.  But... I did make it. And initially I had an empty seat next to me, but apparently a bunch of the back-seat entertainment systems weren't working, so passengers were told they could move around to another seat after we took off. So, it wasn't long before my empty seat was taken (there was just 1 seat next to me... no middle seat to worry about).  I didn't watch a movie, although I did read a bit.  I'm reading a book by Dan Brown "Deception Point" and the further I get in the book, the more I feel like I either read it before or watched the movie. I'm probably 85% of the way through the book, it has 585 pages (I bought a paperback so I could read it while flying (Take-offs and landings). After reading for a bit, I went ahead and took an "Ambien" and then went to sleep, waking up every now and then.

By the time I got my luggage it was about 9am this morning, so I took a taxi home and then unpacked before going to pick up the dogs shortly after lunchtime.  They were sure happy to see me! Peanut couldn't stop licking me! LOL!  Bruno, he just kept barking in excitement and jumping up and down.  This afternoon, after we got home and took a short walk, we took a nap for a couple hours. Hopefully I will be able to fall asleep tonight.

I'm writing this blog earlier tonight than normal (it's only about 6:40pm), I'm going to get some chicken out of the freezer and make some chicken for dinner and while the chicken is thawing, I'm going to take the dogs out for another walk.

So... signing off...

Extra night in the USA!

Training finished up well today and we got done a little early, so I just went back up to my room and relaxed until I had to check out at 1pm.  I caught a shuttle ride over to the airport with one of my classmates and since we had about 3 hours til our flight we just sat and talked for awhile.  About 1/2 hour after we got to the airport a couple more of our classmates joined us (they actually had a later flight than I did) so we sat and talked for the next couple hours.

Then I went to my gate to board, only to find out the incoming flight had some mechanical problems so my flight was going to be delayed.  Apparently after the plane had taken off from wherever it was coming from, the co-pilot's console went completely blank, so they flew in on visual only.  They (rightly so) wanted to make sure it was fixed before they continued flying.  But, as a consequence, I was going to miss my connection in Detroit.  So, I had the choice of flying to Detroit and spending the night there, or stay here tonight and fly out tomorrow, which is what I chose to do.  They offered to put me up in a hotel near the airport and gave me a $25 voucher.  I'm staying at a Drury Inn hotel, and it is really nice. Since I got here by 6, I got a free dinner (nothing fancy, but it was free!). They offer free dinner til 7, and free breakfast. They also give you free drink vouchers that are good til 7 (3 drinks!).  And they have free phone calls and free Internet!  I'm a happy camper! I just have to contact my dog sitters to let them know I will be a day late!

Okay, signing off... I won't be posting tomorrow night, because I SHOULD be flying all night.  Will post on Sunday sometime...

Another Great Evening with a Friend

Training went okay today, although I woke up this morning to the air conditioner being out in the hotel room and it was out in our training room as well.  My room was somewhat tolerable, but the training room was unbearable, they brought us some fans, but I think I was off on la-la land for part of the training, but talking with some of my peers, I think they had a problem with the same part of the training. Thankfully the air conditioning came back on just before lunch.

After the training this afternoon a friend from Hawaii came over (they live here now) and we went out to dinner.  It was nice to catch up on news and work stuff.  I got back to my hotel about 7:30 and I've just been relaxing and watching some TV.  I need to pack tonight because I'm leaving at lunchtime tomorrow.

Okay, signing off!

Great Evening with Friends

So, just a short post because its already 11pm. Had a good day of training today.  Tonight some friends who live in the area drove over and took me out for dinner.  Then we went over to the Japanese Gardens and walked around.  It was great to see them and catch up on some news.  I used to work with Rod up in Alaska and then his wife was a teacher for my kids.

Okay, signing off.
