Another fairly easy day...

Dinner... Cheddar Chicken for dinner.  The chicken is dipped into milk, then shook it in a ziplock baggie that had crushed Ritz Crackers, shredded cheese, and seasonings, then I baked it.  It actually turned out good (I had cut a skinless/boneless chicken breast into strips).
Then I made this "Crescent Roll Cheesecake" to take into work tomorrow.  You need two packages of crescent rolls (the kind that you buy in the tubes and then bake). I put one roll (they come already split into 2 rolls, you just don't tear them apart into the diamond shapes). Lay the 2 rolls in the bottom of the pan. Then I mixed 2 packages of cream cheese, 1 cup of sugar, 1 egg yolk, and some vanilla and spread that onto the one set of Crescent rolls.  Then I spread the other roll of crescent roll dough on top, then whipped up the egg white and spread it on top, then sprinkled cinnamon sugar and the almond slivers (you could use any type of nuts on top).  Hopefully it tastes good.

Okay... work today was fairly easy.  I didn't get my notes done, but that's okay, hopefully I will get it done tomorrow.  My volksmarching club had their dinner tonight, but I didn't feel up to going. (So, I stayed home and made this yummy dinner and desert instead).

Okay...it's 9:30pm, time for bed, so I'll sign off for another night.

Easy Work day...

I thought the Stockholm Public Library was kind of cool!

So... work went okay today, I had one erroneously scheduled intake (wasn't supposed to come to me, so they saw the person they were supposed to see), one no-show and one afternoon appointment. I also got my "Peer Review" done (where we have to review a "peer's" charts to ensure they are doing them correctly.  Luckily for me, the other people in my same position over here, for the most part, do a pretty darn good job at their notes. I've only come across one person consistently that slacks off in that department (that person is at another location).

After work I went and got my nails done, picked up some dirt so I could re-pot a couple plant bulbs I got up in Holland (and got them re-potted tonight). After I got my nails done, I went and picked up the doggies... to say that they were glad to see me is an understatement! *smiles*  Then I came home and watched some TV, surfed the web, caught up on emails, downloaded most of the Stockholm pictures... and now it's 10pm and past my bedtime.  Peanut is already down on the bed, Bruno, my ever devoted one, is curled up on my lap. *smiles*

Home from Stockholm

Had a WONDERFUL time in Stockholm!  Friday we just kind of hung out and walked around a bit.  Saturday we did the Hop On, Hop Off bus and then circled back around to go to the Skansee outdoor museum which includes a zoo with "northern" animals.  And we had one of the MOST awesome once-in-a-lifetime experience when we got to see a caribou calf that had literally just been born minutes before, with it's mother (whose "sac" was still hanging from her backside) and we saw another little caribou that had been born about 4 hours earlier. I'll post pictures later. Last night we went to an "ice bar" that was kind of "cool!"  Today we walked ALL over Stockholm and we have had some real serendipitous moments over the weekend (i.e. seeing the brand newborn calf), and today we just happened to be in the right place to watch the guards go by playing their music while riding horses! So then we followed them up to the palace to watch the changing of the guard.  I did some souvenir shopping today and then had to hop on the plane to head back home.

Now it's about 12:40am and morning is going to come AWFULLY early... so I'm signing off.

Off on another trip tomorrow...

Some of the windmills I saw up in Holland while I was there.  Beautiful, especially seeing them from the relatively small, quiet boat I was on.  These were taken at Kinderdijk in Holland.

Work was fairly busy today, but I managed to get out by about 5:15pm and I got my work (documentation) done.  I came home and took the dogs out for a shorter walk than normal and then dropped them off at one of my co-worker's houses, she's going to watch them for me this weekend because my regular dog sitter is out of town this weekend.

It's almost 11am and I still need to finish packing. I don't know what it is about the night before I take a trip, I just have a harder time than normal trying to go to bed.

So... I'll sign off. I *may* not be able to post while I'm traveling because I'll be on my Ipad, if I can make it work, I'll post. Otherwise you might not see another blog from me until Sunday night or Monday night (depending on how tired I am when I get back late Sunday night).

Happy Hump Day... one more day of work for me this week! YAY!

Here are some more flowers from Holland... I took over 500 photos... *smiles*

Work went okay today, it was relatively busy. I went at lunch time and picked up a couple travel books, one on Stockholm, one on the top 10 places to see in Marrakesh and one on Morocco.  Should be some fun reading!

Okay... another short blog.

Another post today...

Some more photos from Holland (they will continue through this week for sure!).

Work went okay, I had a no-show this morning and I managed to get all of my notes caught up, THAT makes me happy!  Tonight I took the dogs for a short walk and then I've been surfing the web researching stuff about Stockholm, where I'll be visiting this weekend with my friend Laura and her oldest daughter.

Last night I actually got to bed shortly after 9, that was a nice treat.  I took some Sominex and some Unisom and the combination allowed me to fall asleep.  I was dragging today though as a result.

Okay... just another short post.

Easy Monday, but the gray skies are back... boo hiss!

Will keep posting some flower pics from this weekend.

Work went okay, I only got 2 notes done, and still have 10 or so to get done so that I can catch up.  Weather wise, it's a pale gray overcast sky out there.

I'm going to keep this short because I want to head to bed.

Back from Holland!

I made it to the Keukenhof gardens in Holland and had a wonderful time. I spent about 10 hours at the park, it was awesome!  I would say that about 50% of the flowers in the fields were in bloom. It's okay... I enjoyed what I saw and I didn't even get to see it all!
 Beautiful, huh!
And one of the unexpected surprises of this trip, was that I got to watch a beautiful sunset, two nights in a row!  I wasn't far from the North Sea and, hey... just look at this photo!  BEAUTIFUL!  (and healing)
Today I went by Kinderdijk to see these windmills... and had another unexpected event... instead of walking and walking to see them all (while trying to get back home before dark), I was able to take a half hour boat ride down the canal and see a lot of these windmills.  It was neat!

Altogether I drove 955 miles this weekend, but it was worth every mile (if nothing else... just to walk along the beach at sunset and collect seashells in the sand!).  My car did great and I didn't have to buy any gas in the Netherlands (I can only get "discounted" gas in Germany).  I think I did 420 miles or so and still had another 40 left on the tank! Whoohoo!

Sorry I didn't post Friday or Saturday night, my iPad was having one of it's fits, so I couldn't do it. Darn it.  But, I'll be posting pictures all week to make up for it.

Let's see, the only kinks in the weekend. #1, I left one of my camera chargers at home (for the main camera I was going to use), and even though I had fully charged it the day before, somehow it must have gotten turned on, because it said the battery was low. Thankfully I realized this BEFORE I went to the gardens (I noticed it when I was going to take pictures of the sunset). SO... I used my iPad and my other Canon camera (powershot) to take photos.

The other kink? Apparently I left my leather jacket at the hotel (what's up with my leaving things in the hotel????).  Unfortunately, it had my keys in the pockets (so I didn't notice until I got home). And I can't put my car key on my key ring, (otherwise I would have noticed it sooner).  So, I've emailed the hotel to ask them about it.  THANKFULLY, I have a spare key where I can find it at home, so I was able to get into the house. I'll just have to deal with the office keys when I go in tomorrow.

Okay... it's 11pm, time for me to get off this computer and get to bed.

Argh!

So... I didn't sleep well last night. And since it is after 11pm tonight, don't think it will be much better tonight.  The one advantage that I have is that the dogs are now at the dog sitters.  After work I came home and took them out for a very short walk and then headed over to the dog sitter's but they weren't there and weren't answering their phone.  I thought for a bit that I might not be going tomorrow afterall.  So I came back home after doing an errand with the dogs, watched Survivor and then called and got in touch with Scotty, he was home.  His wife (Staci) is gone for some training right now.

Work went okay, it was fairly busy, I think I ended up with about 10 notes to write.  I was tired and sure felt like I could have used a nap!

Okay... I'm going to sign off.  I should be able to sign in tomorrow night from Lieden in the Netherlands.

2.66 miles today!

These were some tulips I got earlier this year, I'm looking forward to seeing a whole bunch this coming weekend.  I'm looking forward to my trip up to Holland. It will be a 6-8 hour trip each way. I'm going up on Friday, I'm leaving right at lunch time.

Last night I took almost a couple hours to fall asleep, so I've been rather tired today.  Work went okay, I had a couple cancellations which made work a little easier, but I didn't get a chance to get any notes done.

After I got home tonight I took the dogs out for their walk and we did 2.66 miles.  That's about what we have done each day for the last 4 days.  Tonight I'm watching "CSI", I watched "The Voice" earlier tonight.

Not too exciting, eh?  *smiles*

Signing off.

Slept a little better last night

I think this is me the last few days...

I *did* sleep a little better last night, it was probably a combo of the over-the counter sleep med that I took (Unisom), the relaxation music and the fact that I didn't get much sleep the night before.

Work went okay today (I got there on time).  I had three appointments this morning, including a new client.  This afternoon I had two scheduled, but one of those was moved to the morning and the other one was supposed to be a family, the parents had called to cancel, so I only saw the youth for a few minutes to check up and see how Spring break went for them.

My other two co-workers were out for the afternoon at a meeting, so I just hybernated in my office and plugged away at my notes (which are all caught up, including the intake from today).  I guess not getting enough sleep leaves me feeling just a *tad* grumpy and anti-social.

After I got home I took the dogs out for their walk (2.5 - 3 miles) and then came home and made a small Dijourno pizza for dinner.  I am also making some blueberry muffins (with a mix) to take into work tomorrow for our staff meeting.  As soon as the last few are done, I'm going to head to bed.

Okay... signing off.  Oh yea, before I do... it got up in the70's again today! WHOOOHOOO!

Elusive sleep...

I took these photos the other day when I was out walking the dogs.  I took them for a walk after work today and we did 2.68 miles. *smiles*  The temps were up into the 70's, it was wonderful!

Last night I just could NOT fall asleep for anything.  I went to bed about 10:30pm, and then laid awake for about an hour... got up out of bed for an hour or so, laid back down and listened (again) to the Sleep hypnotherapy music, got up around 2 and took a couple unisoms or whatever they are (Over the Counter sleep meds).  They didn't kick in until about 4am.  SO... I called the office around 6am and let them know I would be in around lunchtime.  I sure hope I can figure out some alternative to Ambien.  Tonight I took a couple Unisoms about 8pm, I've walked the dogs earlier... and now I'm just watching CSI (I watched "Amazing Race" earlier).  After work I stopped and got my car washed and then I came home and walked the dogs. Then I went ahead and vacuumed out my car.  So, I've had a productive evening after work.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to sleep tonight so I can function tomorrow at work. I've missed 1 full day and 2 half-days of work because of my insomnia (not that anyone cares, other than my supervisor and myself).

Okay... signing off... it's 8:30pm. I'm planning to be in bed by 9pm.

Wpw, what a beautiful Sunday!

It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood!  The doggies and I enjoyed a couple walks today.
Give me a daisy a day dear... give me a daisy a day...
My next door neighbors' daffodils are finally blossoming!  Mine regular sized ones should be blooming soon too!
Flowers in a neighbor's yard.

So... today the temperature got up to about 72*!  WHOOHOO!  So... what did I do? I stayed indoors almost all day.  I didn't come upstairs until noon, (although I did let the dogs out to go potty about 7am).  I let them out and took the pictures (above) at the noon time walk.

I made what has become a Sunday tradition for me... an egg, 2 pieces of bacon and a piece of toast for "brunch".  Then I got busy in the basement. I had to put away all my clothes that have been piling up on my drying rack in my laundry room, and I did a couple more loads.  Then I vacuumed downstairs and mopped all the rooms.

Then I came upstairs to the main floor and repeated the effort.  Looks a lot better now.  Hopefully we don't get any more rain soon.

I took the dogs out for a longer walk about 6pm.  We are ALL tired now!  I don't know what is up with my "Runkeeper" app, it says that we did 4.26 miles when I think we actually did about 3 miles.  I've used the application 3-4 times now and it has yet to get my mileage accurate (at least it always gives me credit for MORE walking than less).  But, I did get my 10,000 steps in today, so that's good.

I'm just now making dinner (at 8:30pm).  I basted a chicken breast with a mixture of mayonnaise, parmesan cheese, seasoning salt, garlic seasoning, and minced onion and I have it baking now (it should be done soon.  And I'm going to have some corn with it and some canned peaches.  I don't like eating this late though.

I haven't figured out if I am going into work tomorrow. I had left my schedule empty for tomorrow and had planned to take a mental health day. But, then I didn't plan on being out a day and a half last week.  I guess I will see how I sleep tonight.

I've been listening to a sleep hypnotherapy CD for the last two nights and trying to fall asleep without any medications.  I'm going to keep trying this route for now.  If I can't fall asleep, then I'll try some sominex or I've ordered some sleep med that is supposed to be natural, from Amazon that a friend (Ellen) recommended.  So far it seems to take me about an hour to fall asleep without my Ambien.  Guess that means I need to try and go to bed an hour earlier?

Okay... signing off to go check on my chicken.

Lazy, so-so Saturday

Some flowers from last weekend in Esslingen.  I liked how creative they were to use bread in a terracotta plant bowl for a centerpiece (and had stuck a tulip in the "centerpiece").

So... I got up about 9 or so this morning but laid in bed and read until about 10, then got up and took the dogs out for a short walk before heading out for my nail appointment.  Afterwards I did a little shopping before coming back home about 3.  I took the dogs out for a walk for about 3 miles, they liked it.  We came home and laid on the couch for a bit, the doggies were worn out, I couldn't sleep though, so got up and straightened some things up around the house.  Maybe tomorrow I'll have the energy to really clean it (vacuum, mop, etc).

Haven't really done anything tonight, just kind of hanging here at the house with the doggies and surfing the web.  Nothing too exciting. I'm on call this week so I'm tethered - I can go very far.

I did enjoy talking with Bette last night, what was it, your 85th birthday or 86th?  I hope I am as spry as she is at that age!  In a couple weeks Walt will have his birthday, he's a year older than Bette.  I miss seeing them each winter when I lived in Hawaii.

I found out that my former landlady in Hawaii, her daughter is going to do a "study abroad" for a year over in the Colmar, Alsace region of France. It's a beautiful area and I'm sure she'll enjoy it.  I told her Mom (Karla) that if I'm here I'd love to come pick her up and bring her over to Stuttgart for the weekend.  That area of France is only a couple hours from where I live.

Okay... I'm going to scoot.

Happy for Friday!

Whoooohooo!  I have some tiny daffodils coming up out front of my house.  They are only about 3" tall.  But it is a sign of spring!

So glad it's Friday.  I only had one appointment today and they cancelled earlier this morning, so I had a relatively quiet day.  I slept so-so last night.  I took some Meletonex about 2 hours before bedtime and didn't get any effect from that, so then I took some sominex and remembered why I don't like taking that, it gives me horrible restless leg syndrome.  So, I was a little cranky/moody today.  Other than a staff meeting today, I stayed in my office most of the day.

After work I went by the Post Office and two books that I had ordered came in.  I got a sightseeing book on Morocco and one on Marrakech (I'm going there for Memorial Day weekend).  I'm looking forward to reading through them.

Tonight I've been downloading some hypnosis stuff for sleep, I'm going to listen to them when I go to sleep tonight to see if that helps.

Okay... signing off,

Half day of work today

Just a few more photos from Esslingen.

So... last night I couldn't sleep worth a darn, so I called in sick again this morning so I could try and get a little sleep.  I went in at lunch time. I only had one appointment this afternoon, but it was an intake on a new couple.  So that also meant I had 14 pages of documentation to put into the system. I got that done, but didn't get caught up on my notes from Monday and Tuesday.

Tonight after work I went over to the grocery store and bought some Melatonex, one of my co-workers recommended it.  I hope it works.  I also bought some Sominex, as a back up.  Sure going to miss my Ambien that I've been taking for the last 19 years.  UGH!

Okay... signing off.

More photos from Esslingen

These are some more photos from Esslingen

So... I *did* call in sick this morning and I didn't go into work.  I think that's only about the 2nd time I've done that in about 5 years.  I really *did* have a headache this morning... and most of the day.

I rested most of the day.  And I took the dogs out for a couple short walks.

Tonight I made some chicken, it was a recipe I got online (on Facebook).  It called for basting the chicken with mayonnaise, mixed with parmesan cheese, and seasonings and then baking it. It was quite moist and tasty!

Okay... signing off.

After and Before...

Today I took the dogs for a walk after work and was shocked/surprised to find that the long that has been across this path (see below) had been cut and is no longer there.  Some things just surprise me.
This photo was just taken a week or so ago!
No more posing the dogs on THIS log.  LOL
I love the woods... (can you tell?)

Work went okay today... for the most part.  I had a client show up at 7:45am that had been scheduled for yesterday, so I went ahead and saw him because I didn't have an 8am appointment scheduled.  Then I had someone that wasn't able to make it in this morning and asked if they could be seen this afternoon, so I switched them around (I'm SO accommodating!).

I guess the biggest news for today was that I woke up to an email telling me that my application for a Social Work position in South Korea has been sent forward.  I had to chuckle... my guess is that not many people are applying for jobs in Korea at this time. And no... I'm NOT worried about what North Korea might or might not do.  For a couple reasons. For one thing, IF they were to call me and ask me if I am interested in the job, I can always say no.  For two... IF they do that, I wouldn't even be going for 90 days or so and by then, this whole tension thing with Korea should blow over.  I'm not holding a lot of hope that I'll be offered, because it is a Substance Abuse position and I haven't worked in that field specifically for about 5 years.  And my guess is that they have someone in a lower position that they already know, that they want to hire for that position.  But... in the meantime, I'll keep putting in for positions wherever they come open, IF it means I'll get a promotion (okay... shall I say *overseas* positions, because I can still say "overseas" for 2 1/2 more years). And that's one other thing... if I were to get offered the job, any job, it should only be for two years or so.

The frustrating thing for me today deals with my sleep med that I've been taking for most of 19 years (with NO negative side effects).  It's a controlled substance and we have one of our head doctors that is VERY against ANY one using it.  My old primary care doctor has left (and was willing to prescribe it for me despite the head doctor's bias).  So... my current doc says no, not without the one doc's permission (the head doc) and they refuse.  SO... I'm stuck.  And it makes me very angry.  VERY angry.  So much so, that I think I'm going to call in sick tomorrow.  I need a break from work. Well... not really, I just don't want to see this doc tomorrow.  I'm NOT in the mood.  And as such, I probably wouldn't be very effective with clients tomorrow.  SO.  For tonight, my plan is to call in sick tomorrow and stay home and just putz around the house.

Okay... signing off...

Great walk at the end of the day

Some of these trees that have been cut down are WAY bigger than Bruno and Peanut!
Some of the piles of logs are higher than I am tall (Bruno took this picture, can you tell? Just kidding... I put the camera on timer mode and set it on another pile of trees)
The Road less traveled... (this is the road we take to the "End of the road"
This is a hunting stand at the END of the road.

Work went okay today. My first appointment of the day had to cancel because they have so much to do before they move back to the States.  The second appointment came a little late and hadn't done their paperwork, so that appointment ended up going a couple hours, well into MY lunch hour.  I ended up with about 15 minutes for lunch (or so I thought, but then my 1pm appointment was a no show).  I used the time this afternoon to get my assessments from the morning written up and then was happy when my LAST appointment of the day was also a "no-show" (that person kind of hits or misses on their appointments, so it wasn't a big surprise).  BUT... because most of the clinic was out today anyway, my boss had said we could leave an hour early... so I did!  YAY!

I came home and took the dogs out for a LONG walk... we walked for a couple hours. (slow walking).  It felt good and it's a great de-stressor!

Tonight I've been on the computer, I was trying to upload a short video of the dogs that I took when we were out walking, from my laptop, but it wouldn't post (and it took forever for each try)... so finally I loaded the pics from today along with the video onto my Ipad and was able to upload it to Facebook that way.

I also made some sweet garlic chicken for dinner. It was pretty tasty! Even the dogs agreed! *smiles* and we had some green beans to go with the chicken.  I don't know if I knew that the dogs liked green beans. (they are spoiled dogs!).

Okay... it's 9:30. I'm going to sign off.  I've also been reading a murder mystery book with my Kindle app.
