Happy Halloween

This was the full moon this morning when I was out walking the dogs... the snow has melted off the field, today actually got up to about 50*.

Work went okay today... I took some cupcakes in to share and then our Optometrist brought in a cake to celebrate his son's birthday (in a lot of ways we are like a big family).  He's such a cutie (the son... he turned 3 today).

I had to chuckle, I was at lunch with a couple of my bosses and the one co-worker that tends to make me a little crazy.  The one boss decided to head back to the office before my immediate supervisor and I... and the "co-worker" said "I think I'll head back too so I can rest" and the head boss made a comment about her going back to have a "siesta!".  LOL!

I did get an email finally today about my inquiry about why my application wasn't sent forward this time for that job in Italy. It'll probably be awhile before I hear back though as they send it forward for someone to actually LOOK at my application package and see what the difference was.

No trick-or-treaters for me tonight... although I shut the shutters (roladens) and kept the lights down low (trying not to encourage trick-or-treaters).  I didn't get home til about 6 and then walked the dogs for awhile.  I had a salad for dinner tonight... I was planning to have some strawberries... but I'm full.

I did finally put away most of  my polish pottery... so I feel like I accomplished "something" tonight. *smiles*

Okay... signing off!

Halloweeeeen is on it's way...

Happy Halloween... I thought I would get into the spirit for you! *smiles*

Work went okay, still a lot of distractions related to the calls I dealt with over the weekend and I got another call last night about 12:30am. UGH!  So... I'm a little tired today.

Not much going on... I've been researching some possible book titles to read on my upcoming cruise (I found one set in the Canary Islands, another one for Barcelona and one for Marseille, France), those are places I'll be visiting on my upcoming cruise.  One of them, set in the Canary Islands, I can download for free! *smiles*

One heck of a busy day...

Some neighbor kids apparently tried to make a snowman... they forgot the hat, the eyes and the nose! *smiles*
The field is still white!

So... work was crazy busy today as I dealt with the three cases from today.  I had an appointment scheduled first thing this morning (after meeting with my supervisor), and then I just kept dealing with interruptions all day!  My supervisor is taking on all three cases from yesterday and met with one of the individuals today, actually, she met with the father/son duo a little bit off and on today as well.  I didn't envy her, this was her first day back at work!

On another note, I got an email about the Vicenza position, my application is NOT being forwarded because I *don't* qualify (?????)  This is just crazy!  I don't understand... how can I be the best applicant they got (and get offered the job) one time and then not be qualified the next time.  I mean, according to the people in Italy I was the best applicant they got last time... and now I'm being told I'm not even qualified????  Oh well... as you may tell, this has got my tail in a dandruff (or whatever that saying is).  I did email the people who do the resume review (in the States) to ask them why, but I haven't heard back yet.  (they are in Illinois, so not affected by the storm).

There's a part of me that says that maybe I'm just not meant to go to Vicenza? And another part of me says that I am where I am supposed to be for the moment and to just let it ride (at least until another promotion type position comes open here in Europe).

Tonight I did a little vacuuming and I also made some Banana nut muffins. I used one of my new Polish Pottery muffin pan and it worked really well.  I'm very pleased with them.

Okay... it's after 10pm, I'm going to sign off.

Sunday in motion...

I think I'll skip putting a photo on the blog tonight because I want to head to bed soon. I enjoyed a lazy morning in bed (but I got "called" about 11:15pm last night and then again at 3:40am because I'm "on call.").

I woke up to news about the earthquake up in the Vancouver, BC are and the resultant Tsunami alert for Hawaii, so I was posting back and forth with friends that are in Hawaii that are on my Facebook.  For example, one of my friends posted that she wasn't sure if she was in the evacuation area, and asked if anyone had a map.  Fortunately, one of my Facebook friends is a radio dj, and had been posting links for evacuation routes and the map, so I "shared" it on my facebook page so she could have access to it.  I kept tracking the Tsunami until the first waves started coming through and saw that it wasn't as bad as they thought it might be (what a relief that was!).  Of course... now the East Coast is getting ready to be hit with the Major FRANKENSTORM... and I am hoping and praying everyone does okay through that.  That's one of the things about Social Media, I am able to keep track of a lot more friends and it has broadened my circle of friends.  (some I've met cruising and we've been able keep in touch via Facebook).

Anyway... after that I ended up having to spend the better part of the day (1pm - 7 pm or so) dealing with three cases.  So... didn't get anything done that I had wanted to get done.  Oh well. Thankfully there's always tomorrow.

By the way, the snow melted off the roads and sidewalks, but there's still a lot of snow on the trees and in the fields.  Sounds like the heavy snow caused a lot of trees to fall and/or break off branches.  They're still in the clean up mode for that.

Tonight it is supposed to get down to 17* above... brrrr!

Okay... signing off.

Snowy day in Germany

Snowy day in Germany, we got about 4" here where I live.  Today was the first day the doggies have had to wear their coats this season.  And as typical, Peanut is quite content to run and play forever, while Bruno (with less hair) is freezing and wanting to go home.

I'm sure glad I got the hammock put away!  Haven't done much today... I did laundry this morning, then this afternoon I decided I needed to run some errands before it got too much colder and the roads started freezing (which is what I'll expect them to do tonight).  It has been snowing pretty consistently all day, although tonight it was a little lighter, but then there was a wind that was blowing the snow around.  I did my random act of kindness and went out and shoveled our side of the block (so I did my neighbors on either side of me, as well as my sidewalk).  I'm sure I'll have to get up and shovel again in the morning.  The snow is a heavy, wet snow... great for making snowmen (but I'm not in the mood for that and the kids across the street have been gone all day... Trevor had to play football in the snow!).

Tonight I got my Christmas cards made (online)... chose which pictures to put on it and then ordered them through WalMart.  They won't ship over here, so I had to have them sent to my middle daughter and she's going to turn around and mail them to me. The next challenge is to get my calendars made/uploaded and have those sent to her as well.  I'm hoping my Christmas cards will make it here before Thanksgiving, the Calendars might just get mailed out after I get back from my cruise, but at least people will get them before the 1st of the year (or should).

Okay... signing off...

Almost Halloween...

 An artist's workshop...

I don't think I'd have the patience for doing this... but I am awed by their talent and ability as they hand paint each one of the Polish Pottery pieces!

Work went okay today, I just had one appointment this morning and I got caught up on my notes this afternoon (with the exception of two more assessments that I have to write up, I brought them home and hope to get them done over the weekend).   And then I'll be totally caught up once more.

After I got off work I had to go by the grocery store, I wanted to pick up salad fixings so I can start having salads for dinner until I drop 10 pounds.  (Hopefully before my cruise!).  BUT... I also picked up a personal pan pizza for dinner tonight... 4 more "Friday night" Pizza's before my cruise after tonight. (one way to count down to the cruise).  So... tonight I had the perosnal pan pizza for dinner.

Since they are saying we may get snow tomorrow, I went ahead and took apart my hammock and put that away in my garage. And I stacked the chairs to my patio set (actually, it's the landlord's set that I stacked) and I swept off the back porch area. I also grabbed a basket full of wood, because if it is as cold as they are saying it is supposed to be tomorrow night, (21*) then I think I'm going to start a fire in the wood stove. (and curl up on my couch with the doggies).

Okay... not much else to write about, other than Halloween is soon approaching.  I found a cool recipe for lady finger cookies with an almond half (painted with red food coloring on the back) pressed into the end of them and they look like fingers! Great Halloween dish. Someone else posted a picture of some "eyeballs" that you can make.  You take a jelly bean and press it into the middle of a round life-saver gummy candy, then you put that in the bottom of a plastic egg cup.  Then you mix up yellow pudding mix, and fill the egg cup half way... stick them in a muffin tin and freeze them.  Then pop out the "eyeballs". It sounds like something interesting to do if I could find plastic easter egg cups over here.

Time to sign off...

Almost Friday! But, back on call...

These are photos from the weird glass figurines of the Borowski factory.  I didn't buy anything, it's not my style of art.

Work went okay today, I had two appointments call to reschedule, but it worked out for one of the appointments because it was double booked.  The people that showed up for the appointment had told me they had a doctor's follow up today so wouldn't be able to make it, but then found out the appointment was for this morning (with the doctor), so they came this afternoon for their originally scheduled appointment (that I had given away... but the ones that I gave it to, one of them was sick and couldn't make it).  Clear as mud, huh!

Found out that I only have a couple more weeks with the head honcho of my Behavioral Health department.  They are taking a temporary job for about 6 months elsewhere, and between the "chief's" leave and my leave in December... we will only have a couple more weeks of working together (especially if I get that job in Italy).

My boss is still out, I'm happy she's been able to take a couple weeks off to enjoy company.  She is due back next week, hopefully she can come back re-focused and re-energized (for her sake).  I'm sure looking forward to MY vacation in about 35 days. Last night I went ahead and made my return flight reservations, so now all the travel pieces of my vacation are taken care of.  I need to pay for a couple shore excursions that I've committed to (with people that will be on board, NOT through the ship, so they won't be as expensive).

Okay... signing off...

More fall colors

I took these photos this past week while walking with my doggies.

Just a quick post.  Work went okay today, I've been fortunate to have a light week and one of my clients for tomorrow had to reschedule. I'm going to enjoy it while I can. *smiles*

Leaving work there must have been a couple accidents, because the one way through town that I can come was backed up ALL the way through town, so I chose to go the Autobahn route, which wasn't as bad.  Glad I didn't go across a road that we Americans refer to as "Frog" road (because frogs get hatched at a pond along the way and they cross the road at night and you have to slow down during the time of year they are hatching, to about 5 miles an hour through there... as if THAT is going to save a frog's life or two???).  Anyway, they had a motorcycle accident on Frog Road, not sure what else may have been going on.  Found out this afternoon that one of our Psychiatrists are heading out on a cruise with their kids... glad they are being able to get away.

Okay... signing off. It's 9:30pm... time to wrap things up and think about heading to bed.

Fall Colors

Bruno trying to fit in with the leaves...
 Peanut
Fall colors... I took this Sunday when we were out for one of our daily walks. We did 3 miles on Sunday. *smiles*

All is well here.  Work went okay, had a sticky situation at work this morning and then spent the afternoon at a training (on trying to develop trust in the workplace). It was okay, we had a couple good presenters.

Tonight has been another lazy evening... watching some TV ("The Voice" and "48 Hours").  It's starting to get cold around here and by this weekend it is supposed to drop down to 27* or so.  BRRRR.  We just *may* see our first snow.  (I hope not!).

We stayed at the Blue Beetroot Inn up there in the Boleslawiec area. It was a wonderful farm-like experience and because our group was the only one there, it almost felt like family.  The hosts were very welcoming and friendly.

Looking down the road from the Blue Beetroot Inn... a beautiful fall morning!

So.  Work went okay today... not TOO busy.  I had two cancellations (one I knew about).  Tomorrow is supposed to be easy as well, because I have to spend the afternoon in training.  (fun).

Not a lot to write about today.  I did take the dogs for a short walk after work.  It was about 55* out, but at least the sun was shining and we don't have snow yet!

Made it home

Just a couple pictures tonight because it is already bedtime.  The top photo shows one of the artists painting the pottery (they had probably 30-40 at least at the one factory we went to).  And below is some of the pottery I got.  I *love* the large square platter, mainly because it's unique.  And I love my muffin pans.  Next to the platter is a deviled egg carrier (with a handle).  And there's a Large Christmas tree tea light thing, I can't wait to check it out.  Next to my turtle bank are four tulip shaped tea light candle holders (I'm using 2 of them tonight... as I have been enjoying some German wine with some crackers and cheese... a Sunday night tradition I've been trying to implement).

We got back about 1:30am, then had to unload everything and load it into our cars.  Then I had to come home and pack it all into the house and I wanted to unpack it because I had gotten my dog-sittter a muffin pan (one that holds 6 muffins, versus the two "9"  muffin cup size that I got).   Then I called one of my daughters and was on the phone until almost 4am.  I was back up shortly after 10 to get ready and head over to pick up my dogs.  I ran a couple errands today and took the dogs for a 3 mile walk. So, all-in-all, it's been a pretty productive day.  Tonight I've spent quite a bit of time uploading pictures to my Facebook account, from the trip.

Okay... signing off for another day.

In Poland

I made it to Poland okay, although I didn't sleep well on the bus, even WITH Ambien, and then today I've had a little bit of a sore back and a small headache. This too shall pass. I think the highlight of the day for me (besides shopping) was touring a factory where we got to see each step of the process that goes into each individually designed piece of Polish pottery. Tonight our tour group has taken over the whole Blur Beetroot Inn. That's been nice, and another nice thing is that I have my own room (I thought I was going to share a room, but I did I mention my concern about possibly ending up sharing a room with a potential - or actual, client). Anyway, time for me to turn in and get some sleep. It's almost 9:30pm. We shop more tomorrow and have dinner here and then start the long drive back. I think we are due back at 2am. Auf Weidersehen, - Kris P.s. I'll post pictures on Sunday, hopefully.

Oh my gosh... I'm tired

This is Wendy and these were the "dishes" we had last night at the Restaurant (this was before they brought the side dishes).

Work was busy again today, I didn't get as much done as I would have liked.  My guess is that tomorrow night after I drop the dogs off at their "sitter's" house, then I'll have to go back to work to finish things up.  It's always something!

Last night we ended up staying up and talking until midnight... so guess who is tired today?  Yep, me.

Okay... I'm going to sign off...

Socializing with friends..

These are my friends Linda and Wendy.  Wendy is another Social Worker here in Germany, she used to be in Hawaii, and came over to Germany a couple years before I did.  Linda here visiting Wendy and they've come down to see me... so we went out to dinner tonight.  It's been a fun visit.

Work was crazy today, one of those "emotional" days that are kind of overwhelming, so it's been nice to have friends here.

Okay... it's 11:30pm, WAY past my bedtime so I'm going to sign off...

Another (rainy) Monday...

Feasting at the fest...

By the way, I keep meaning to provide more information about the Bad Canstatt fest...

Once established in 1818 the Cannstatter Volksfest today is one of Europe’s biggest

festivals regarding fairground entertainment. Due to its diverse offers from entertainers,

innkeepers and open-air market traders, more then three million people are attracted to

come to the festival in Stuttgart, the capital of the federal state Baden-W├╝rttemberg,

every year. Thereby the Cannstatter Wasen, a 37 hectare big fairground alongside the

river Neckar, becomes a cross-cultural venue. For people of mixed parentage and of

different generations laugh, sing and celebrate together 17 days long in a friendly

atmosphere until far into the night. The latest fairground rides for the young and the

young at heart, but also cherished classics like chairoplane, Ferris wheel or ring-the-bell;

lottery booths, flea market, musical fireworks, the festival parade, brightly decorated

marquees with music, beer mug and roast chicken: The Cannstatter Volksfest combines

tradition with modern spirit in an incomparable, wonderful heartfelt way.

A first-rate festival
The biggest wave swinger, the highest freefall tower, the fastest flight carousel – some of

the world’s best transportable funfair attractions wait to be discovered at the Cannstatter

Volksfest. If all rides and booths are set in a row, a front of more than five kilometres will

result. About 17,000 people work directly or indirectly for the Cannstatter Volksfest,

definitely making it a strong economic motor. Not only the visitors benefit from the

festival - bakers, butchers, suppliers, trade, service companies, hotel business and

transport companies as well.

************

So... there some info about the fest that is held every year in the local area.

Work went okay today, my first appointment took most of the morning and then I spent part of the afternoon getting all the documentation done.  I went over and met a friend for lunch, she's the one that is going to be watching my dogs this weekend. *smiles*

Tonight I'm watching "The Amazing Race."  I love this show for all the traveling they do (I don't think I could do half the challenges though).

Okay, not much else is going on... so I'll sign off.

Lazy Sunday...

Some photos from the Volksfest yesterday, I went with my friend Laurie.

So... it really HAS been a lazy day.  I stayed in bed until about 11:30am (after getting up around 6 to let the dogs out for a few moments).  I've been on the couch all day, with a few exceptions when I took the dogs out for some brief walks.  I've been listening to music, reading and napping.  I had though about running up to Ludwigsburg for the Pumpkin Festival, but just never got up the energy to go.  I think knowing I will have a full, busy weekend next weekend, I needed to rest today.

Not much else going on and it's almost 10pm, so I'd better sign off and get ready for bed.

Volkfesting...

Enjoying the Volksfest

German Fast Food

The Fest ends tomorrow
So... I slept in today and then took the dogs for a walk.  I had made arrangements to meet a friend at the train station... I guess I wasn't explicit enough... after waiting for her for awhile, and missing the first train we agreed to take, I took the next one.  She had gone to a different train station.  Whoops!  BUT... ironically, she got to the fest about the same time I did, and we found each other shortly after arriving. (Whew!).  I had fun wearing my new Dirndl, I had picked up in Triberg on one of my trips there this past summer.

Laurie and I wandered around for a few hours and decided it was becoming WAY too crowded, so we decided to leave and went and caught our train.  I went ahead and got off at the main train station because I wanted to check to see how much it would be to take the train down to Rome for my cruise.  I did that last year, but in trying to make my OWN reservation, I ended up in a small cabin on the train, with 5-6 other people and no way to even recline the seat!  So... I got a good deal on the ticket for the trip down and paid extra to get a sleeper car to myself.  I think it will be SO worth it!  That's one more hurdle crossed.

Not doing much tonight.  I uploaded some pictures of the Fest to my Facebook page and I've been surfing the web.  It's almost 10pm and I definitely don't want to stay up as late as I did last night.

So... signing off...

Friday night sunsets

I thought you would enjoy these photos from sunset tonight.  I tried to get the dogs to look at me while I was taking their picture, but once in awhile they want to look everywhere BUT at me.

Work went okay today for the most part.  I had an issue with my one co-worker today (I didn't say anything to her though). She was whining and complaining because she received a couple calls (that all she had to do was take a report) and felt like she should claim overtime (which is a minimum of 2 hours).  She went on and on about how she works sometimes late hours or takes work home. (I think she may stay an extra half hour here or there, but she's also been known to come in late that much here and there...).  And of course, I wanted to "call" her on that statement... if she'd just work at work, she wouldn't have to take work home or "stay late." (And maybe if she didn't sleep during the day... etc, etc). If she didn't have any internet access at work, she would be a little more productive.  I guess I just have an issue with her slobbiness, her laziness, her cussing and her attitude.

I did get to walk to lunch with one of my favorite co-workers.  That's always nice.  I'll miss him when I leave and/or he leaves. (he is very well going to be forced to leave next year, because they are limiting people working over here to 5 years, and he'll be at that next year).  He was worried he'd be limited to just a couple undesireable locations, but I printed off a list of over a hundred Psychologist positions with the Government that are currently available and gave it to him. (He was grateful).

Today I had to take my car into the shop.  They were very efficient.  My neighbor followed me to the garage and then gave me a ride to work.  My boss and I both worked late, until about 5:30pm, and then my boss gave me a ride back over to the Garage to pick up my car.  The guy had everything ready for me and just handed it to me - and I was ready to go.  My car has about 7,500 miles on it. The servicing is covered, I think until 60,000 miles, so I didn't have to pay anything (THAT was nice!).

Not much going on tonight.  I worked late as I said... I came home and took the dogs for a little bit of a walk and I've been watching some TV and surfing on the internet.

Oh yea... one other thing.  Actually two other things.  First... that job that I had been offered in Italy and then it was rescinded? The advertisement for that position came out again today! (HUH?).  My best guess is that they found out that whoever it was that they wanted in that job and tried to get into that position, that it was illegal and they couldn't do it.  SO... now they have to re-advertise. At least if I get selected, it should go through quicker because the HR department should still have all my paperwork.  As far as I know, I was one step away from having everything submitted that they needed and was just waiting the final approval.  The job advertisement closes on October 22nd.  And then if this time is anything like last time, it'll take a few weeks before they get all the applications and review them.  I think last time the job closed in early May and then it took a month before I was notified that my application was sent forward, and then it was a couple weeks after that before they called me and offered me the position.  NOTHING happens quickly in the hiring process over here.

In one way... I think if I get offered the job in Italy again (and actually GET it)... I'll be happy.  For a couple reasons.  One is that it will serve the one co-worker right for having such an attitude about my boss trying to get me promoted and expand my duties to help them. That means that at least until they can get my position filled, that SHE will have to pull on call every other week and may have to pick up some of my caseload. (You mean she'll have to do more work? Ha).  I think I worry that if I get the promotion here, that I'll hear nothing but moaning and complaining from her for as long as we are both still here.  And I don't want to have to deal with that.  The other thing when I thought I was going to Italy before, part of the reason I wasn't ready to, was because I hadn't been to the Oktoberfest and I hadn't been to Poland to go pottery shopping (and to get another country to add to my list).  Well, last weekend I went to Oktoberfest and next weekend (wich is the other "thing" I was referring to above), is that next weekend I get to go on the USO Pottery shopping trip to Poland!  HOORAY!  FINALLY!  I am *so* excited!  I called the woman who used to watch my dogs when I first got here and she's willing to watch my dogs. (I don't want to ask the one co-worker that I don't particularly care about... and who by the way... will be acting supervisor for the next couple weeks while my boss is out... UGH!... anyway... her dogs are dying... she even said the other day she was worried about going in the house and finding one of them dead (the one she brought into work that one day).  Even if I was on good terms with her (we are both cordial to each other), I don't think I'd ask, because if one of her dogs do die in the next week or so, she'd probably say at the last minute she couldn't watch my dogs (I wouldn't want to if one of mine was dying or had just died)... and that'd jeopardize my trip (it would leave me scrambling at the last minute looking for a dog sitter).

ANYWAY... all is good.  I'm happy that the job came up again so I could apply for it again (with strong hopes that I get it... I'm more ready for it now)... and I'm happy I get to go to Poland next weekend!

I'm on call as of today (the co-worker is going to take over on-call for me next Thursday night because we leave early Friday am, then the following week I'll take it back over from her on Thursday night... a night early... so we have it every other week for a couple weeks because my boss is out).  Tomorrow I may go down to the local fest (actually it is the 2nd largest beer fest in Germany).  No, I won't be drinking. #1 - I'm on call and CAN'T drink and #2, I strongly dislike beer.  Laurie (dog sitter) may go with me and we both may wear our dirndles.  (German dresses, I bought one last summer).  If I go and wear my dress, I'll have Laurie take some pics of me in my dress.

Okay... it's after midnight, and this has been a long post.  Thanks for letting me vent a little bit about my work situation and being patient with me.

Auf Wiedersehen,
- Kris

Almost Friday!

Isn't this cool?  I didn't take it, but apparently in Berlin they light up buildings with various lighting like the picture above (normally it is plain... no color!).  Since 2004, the Festival Of Lights is a special event in the capital, every year. This year, the Festival of Lights Berlin will illuminate over 60 buildings and squares from October 11 until 22.  How cool though... I'd like to visit Berlin some year when this is going on.

Work was fairly busy today, nothing too unusual.  After work I went and saw where I have to take my (new) car in the morning for servicing.  Then I stopped by the Post Office and by the store on my way home.

The dogs didn't want to do much of a walk after work, so I just walked them down to the field and then came back home.  I've been watching some TV... "Survivor" was on tonight (here) and so was "The X Factor" so I have been watching both of them.

Okay... signing off for another day.

Fairly easy Wednesday...

I took these photos after work when I was walking the dogs.  I just took them with my Iphone... so I don't think the quality is as good.  I think we did 2.3 miles.

Work went fine today... nothing too exciting.  Although my morning started off with the Chimney Sweep coming at 6:50 this morning (she had left a note saying she would be by between 7 and 8am... and saw me returning with the dogs about 6:45, so decided to come then).  I had already called my (American) neighbors to see if Curt could come over and be here, so I didn't have to be late to work.  Tamie rode with me into work.  It's nice to have good neighbors!

After work I came home and took the dogs for a walk, then vacuumed and wiped down the inside of my car (I'm taking it in for servicing on Friday)... and then I watched "The Voice" before I gave the dogs a much needed bath (Peanut rolled in something when we were walking today! I guess that was her way of pushing the "I need a bath" message). ha ha.

Okay... it's almost 10pm, bedtime for me.

Feels like another Monday...

Inside the Armbrustschutzenzelt tent/building, notice people standing on the table and benches...

Thought I'd post these pictures.  I don't know that my oldest daughter reads my blog, but her last name is Armbruster (means Cross-bow shooter).  I went to this building in her honor (I'm sure she would have liked to be there with her husband!).

Work went okay today, I only had two appointments, but I had a bunch of other things to get done, so I kind of just hibernated in my office all day.  I guess my one co-worker brought one of her dogs in, she was too worried to leave him at home and another co-worker said he was really have a tough time breathing.  Another co-worker said it smelled like the dog had defecated in her office and that it smelled really bad down there.  I decided to just stay in my office and stay out of any potential conflict.

I'm hoping to head to bed early tonight.  I stayed up too late last night trying to get my Ipad restored (yesterday it got to the point where it wouldn't even turn on (even connected to a power source).  I really feel blessed that I was able to go over to the local mall and get a free replacement!

Okay... signing off...
