Filderstadt Volkmarch today

Well, thanks in large part to the 10k Volksmarch I did today... I've got over 24,000 steps for today! This photo was taken along the walk today.

So... not much to write about today.  I slept in and then headed over to the Volksmarch about noon.  I finished about 3 (walked an average of 20 min mile).  My fitbit thinks I've climbed over 51 staircases today (part of the hike was uphill).

After the volksmarch I went grocery shopping, then came home and took the dogs out.  This evening has been centered around trying to update my Ipad.

Now it's 9:40, I'm beat... so I'm going to head to bed.

Harvest Moon Saturday...

After having a rather lazy day (although... I say that... but I did get all my laundry done and all my clothes put away, and I vacuumed the floors and mopped the main floor, and the basement, and I defrosted both of my freezers and cleaned those out and my refrigerator and then took my garbage to the dumpsters).  I was in bed for more than 9 hours last night... I guess that's a good thing.  I got less than 8 hours of sleep though (probably because I was reading at bedtime).   Which reminds me... last night when I was walking the dogs REALLY late (I think it was after midnight)... Bruno was sniffing at something and I could see it with my flashlight, so I went over to look and it was a HEDGEHOG!  How cool is that?  I wasn't sure how close I should get or whether or not I could touch it... so I didn't.  Besides, I wanted to keep the dogs away from it.

Which also reminds me... I noticed there was a (German) police car at a house down the block from where I live (actually, about a block and a half away).  Today there was a knock on the door and there were two police (one guy and one female) and they were asking if I had noticed anything last night in the neighborhood (it sounds like I came home after there had been a burglary in the neighborhood, my guess it was at the house where I saw the police car last night).  That's VERY unusual for here in Germany.  I hope they catch whoever did it!

Okay... signing off.  It's already after 11pm.

Mama said there'd be days like this...

So! This photo doesn't really do it justice... but I got to work and realized I had two different shoes on.  On my left foot I had a black shoe on that has about an inch and a half heel, on the right foot, I had a two-toned blue shoe on (1/2 of the pair I had planned to wear!).  LOL!  It was dark in my entryway when I put my shoes on and I only have about 6' to get to my car and was rushing because my neighbor was with me!  Oh well... me and a bunch of my co-workers had a good laugh at my expense! *smiles*

Today was fine at work, although I only had 2 appointments scheduled today.  This afternoon was taken up by meetings.  Oh yea, and I'm not sure if I have mentioned that I put in for a student loan payment at work (they were offering 20 - $5,000 payments to pay towards people's student loans nationwide), well, I was bummed to find out that I did not get selected.  It actually makes me a little angry, because it sounds like they delayed making their decision for people who had not gotten their application completed on time (like I did).  GRRRR.

After work I joined my neighbor and a bunch of her co-workers to celebrate the end of the fiscal year (they work for the Government), that was fun, chit-chatting.  My neighbor had her kids come over to take the dogs out after they got out of school so that I wouldn't have to run home.

Okay... it's late... (I stayed out way too late)... so I'd better sign off and think about getting ready for bed.

Almost Friday!

What's the opposite of Super Size?   This picture doesn't do it justice... that a regular sized cheeseburger, with the smallest fries I've ever seen from McDonalds.  (but it was enough for me). I had this for one my lunches in Charlotte.

Work went fine, my first appointment (with a family of 5) had to cancel their appointment, but I still had four other appointment.

After work I came home and took the dogs for a walk and then headed out to get my nails done and to do a little shopping.  So, now it's almost 11pm and time for bed (PAST my bedtime!).

So... this will be a short post for today.

No sunset tonight. *frown*

Well... this is how the skies looked when I came home from work to take the dogs out for their walk.  At least it didn't rain on us (it was raining earlier in the day).

This morning I got up early and made Struesel Coffee Cake... man was it good! I took into the office for our staff meeting (and had one piece there).  There was still 1 piece left when I went to retrieve my cake pan, so I had that one for desert tonight.

Today was relatively quiet, I had a new intake scheduled for this morning and they called before the appointment to cancel it. This afternoon I only had 1 appointment scheduled, so that was nice. I got all my notes done.  Tomorrow I have five appointments booked.

Not much going on tonight... cleaned up the kitchen a little and watched another episode of "The Voice", they had one singer that sang a song that holds a lot of memories for me. The song is "Get Here" by Olita Adams.

Okay signing off for another day...

Weird work day

They still haven't picked the apples off the trees around here although there seem to be getting to be more and more on the ground.  Today it was raining out, but thankfully when I got home the rain had let up a bit, just occasionally light rain while I was walking the dogs.  I wore my "Bogs" (rain boots).

Work was weird today... most of our staff was in a training today.  I should have been in the training as well, but somehow things were messed up and I didn't find out in time to reschedule my clients.  One of my co-workers came back today from the States.  This is the first time she had been back to the States in 7 years.

Tonight I've just been being lazy and I've been watching "The Voice."  There's a lot of good talent.

Today my youngest granddaughter turned 10!  In 5 days my oldest granddaughter turns 15.  They are sure growing up!

Okay... signing off...

What a crazy day!

This is  funky picture... but on our walk yesterday (the dog's and my walk) we saw some sheep!  There were 6-8 altogether.  I took this picture with my cellphone.

So... today HAS been a crazy day.  One of my younger co-workers who works downstairs, who is the epitomy of health, collapsed on our entryway at work. (He's been pushing REALLY hard training for a marathon he was to have participated in this coming weekend).  We have a grated walkway and he face-planted (and started having seizures).  We've been told that he lost 4 teeth, he broke his jaw and his neck. (WOW!).  Then our clinic received something like three calls about domestic violence and a suicidal person today.  I swear it's a full moon outside (but I know it isn't).  Please keep "R" in your prayers.  The one silver lining in all this, is that it happened at our clinic and he received the best emergent medical care he could get (until the ambulance got there and took him to a German hospital).

My appointments went okay, although I had two people call to reschedule appointments that were later this week and another one had to call and cancel their appointment for today.  So, given how the day started, I'm glad I caught a little bit of a break.

When I got home I took the dogs out for their walk, but didn't get too far before my on-call phone rang, so I had to bring them back home and deal with that with several phone calls back and forth.

Okay... signing off.

Tree stands in the forest

I don't know if you can see... but there in the distance is a life preserver... this is the local sewage treatment plant. I don't think I'd want to need to be rescued from falling in here!

So, today has been a rather lazy day, I got *almost* 9 hours of sleep again today and have spent *some* time resting today. I did take the dogs for two walks... we did just over 3 miles on both walks. So, I'm proud of myself for that!

Tonight I've been able to talk to my friends, Walt & Bette, and Guy & Nikki. That's been really nice to reconnect with them.

Looks like my blog is back to normal tonight. HOORAY!!!

Okay... signing off, it's after 10pm already.

Here are a couple more pictures from Charlotte. The two "unique" shaped buildings are art museums, and the bottom one is another shot of the Nascar museum.
Today has been a lazy day. I actually got over 9 hours of sleep last night and then took a nap on top of that! I did make it to the store, bought a new doggy bed for my bedroom in hopes that when Peanut gets up in the night and isn't sure about doing the steps back up to the bed, that she'll choose to sleep on the new doggy bed. I also did my "random act of kindness." There was a couple who are new to the area, they don't have their car yet and are staying at the same hotel that I stayed at when I got here. Anyway, they were asking about how to get to a store, so I was near their hotel and stopped by and had the desk clerk call them, and I offered them a ride to one of the larger German stores here in the area. They're a nice couple, she's in the Air Force and they are coming from South Carolina.
Okay... signing off. I'm hoping I'm putting in the correct HTML to make paragraphs.

The end of another week here in Germany

Some photos from today... I like the one "X" marks the spot. *Smiles* Work went okay today, I didn't get out of work until almost 6pm though as I tried to get my notes done. (I also tried to get out of a staff meeting early this morning, but my boss complained). I also got my FLU shot today and did really well. It helped that I was the only person in the room getting the shot and the person giving the shot didn't waste any time giving it to me (so I had less time to worry about it). At least that is over for another year! So far my arm is doing okay. I took over "on-call" tonight... I'm hoping for another peaceful week! Okay... I'm going to sign off. BTW, in case you can't tell, I'm still having problems with my blogger. I think Microsoft has it out for Google (that's the blogger I use). Auf Wiedersehen! - Kris

Late night...

I love the way the building reflected off of the other (I don't remember the name of the building, I think the one it is reflecting off of is the Westin Hotel). And the funky statue in front of the Bechtler Art Musuem. We had our suicide stand-down day, so I didn't get anything work-related accomplished. But... as someone said... I got paid for it, so I guess I can be thankful for that. I went to lunch with a couple co-workers and then after work, I hung around the area because we had a going away party for a couple co-workers who are leaving next week. They are both really great people! The dinner wasn't until 6pm though, so I made arrangements with my neighbor kids to take the dogs out after they got home from school. When I got home about 9pm, I took them out again. Now it's almost 10pm, past my bedtime... time to say Good night to another day. Auf Wiedersehen! - Kris

Walking through orchards...

This sign says: "This orchard is privately owned. They are managed by the families Black / fruit and harvested. An orchard is not a dog toilet." And just for the record, my dogs have never pooped in this area and if they poop near where anyone walks, I make sure to pick it up. So, I'm still having a problem with my blog, but I did figure out (hopefully) how to upload photos. I took these photos this afternoon while I was walking the dogs. Bruno did find part of an apple to eat while we were walking, but he didn't have any blackberries today. Work went fine, I didn't get any notes written, so that means the next couple days will be focused on getting all my notes done. Tomorrow we have a Suicide training day all day. I hope there are moments in there where we aren't so busy... time will tell. I also found out that on Friday I'll have to get my flu shot. Fun. Not much else going on... still worried about my younger brother. So please continue to keep him in your prayers. I'd appreciate it. Okay... gonna scoot. I'm hoping to get to bed early tonight. I didn't sleep well last night at all. I was in bed for 7 1/2 hours, but according to my fitbit, I only slept 5 1/2 hours. UGH! Auf Wiedersehen! - Kris

My doggies like fruit

Hey, My blogger is messing up tonight, so it doesn't look like I can post any pictures... I had planned to post more pictures from Charlotte. This morning I had one of those things that come on your computer to let you know that there is an automatic update and that the system was going to shut down in X amount of minutes. Something in the new "fix" must have messed with the blogging program that I use. Work went okay today, a balance of not so busy and busy. I didn't get all my notes done, but that's because I believe I will have time on Thursday when we have a "Suicide Stand-down day" (to educate everyone about suicide). I think I had four appointments today. But one of them ran a little longer than I had expected (of course it was my appointment right before lunch, so I didn't go to lunch until about 12:15 and I had a 1pm appointment). I took the dogs for a short walk after work (around a mile). Bruno loves it when I pick blackberries and feed to him. And that was after he found a partially eaten apple on the ground and finished it off. He also likes banana (though not as much) and both dogs like strawberries (Peanut likes Apple too). Silly doggies. Tonight I called and talked to my youngest brother. He's had a very rough life and yesterday, in the midst of going through some relational issues, he ended up in an ambulance going to the hospital. They think he had a stroke (he's about 46 or 47) and is possibly having some major kidney problems [read: failure]. They wanted to admit him, but he left against medical advice, because he needed to pick up my nephew (who is in the 8th grade) and because there was no one to take care of his son (related to the relational problems mentioned earlier). I had a long talk with him... not sure if it did any good, but hopefully gave him some food for thought (i.e. if you die, you WON'T be there for your son who needs you... and are you making it so your wife WANTS to come home... what are you doing so that she would want to come back to you). Now it's after 10pm... I'd better think about heading to bed. Please keep my youngest brother in your prayers, his name is David (or Dave). Thanks. Auf Wiedersehen! - Kris

Photos from Charlotte

I stayed next door to the NASCAR Hall of Fame (but I didn't go in... partially because I was VERY limited on time).

The Charlotte Skyline...
There were some cool, tall buildings!

I made it back okay from Charlotte... although I'm kind of wishing I could have stayed until after the Pro NFL game (Charlotte Panthers against the New Orleans Saints)! Everyone I talked to yesterday morning said that the Panthers would lose... but as I watched while waiting for my flight, and then the end of the game at the Atlanta airport, the Panthers won!

The flights back from Charlotte were uneventful. I *paid* for an upgrade on the Atlanta to Stuttgart flight... I paid $40 so that I could sit next to a window instead of sitting in an aisle seat. I can't believe they now make you pay extra money just to sit next to a window! That really sucks. (Oh... btw, it was on DELTA).

I got into Stuttgart about 8am, my luggage must have been the last batch to be unloaded, then I barely missed the train, so had to wait another 10 minutes or so for the next train to come and then had to wait another 10 minutes when I got to the station where I needed to change trains. I finally got to work about 9:15 or so (am). I went straight from where my car was parked (at one of the train stops) to work. I didn't have any appointments scheduled today and didn't really HAVE to go in, but I didn't want to lose any time off. I'm glad I went in because there was a situation that happened while I was gone and I would have been "surprised" tomorrow when I went in expecting to see one of my families.

After work I did a little grocery shopping and then came home and unpacked before I went and picked up the dogs. They were VERY happy to have mama home. And I think Lori is going to look forward to having her whole bed to herself again. *smiles* (Her hubby slept with their two dogs, and she slept with my two dogs.).

It's about 9:30pm, I'm starting to get tired (I've been tired off and all day, but I did sleep on the plane thanks to Ambien). Okay... signing off!

Last night in Charlotte

Well, for my last night in Charlotte, I went back over to Target.  I also had a small Wendy's frosty and I walked over to Arby's and got a small Beef and Cheddar sandwich.

The conference went okay, there were some sessions that were better than others, but that is probably typical.  There are still 3-4 people at the conference that work with people I know, but I haven't found them.  There are a lot of people at the conference.  I did finally see one of my co-workers from Germany, that was good.

Well, I suppose I should sign off and think about packing.  Hopefully I haven't bought TOO much (I think I am okay there...).  Okay, signing off.  I'll try to post some pictures Monday night.  By the way, I WON'T be posting tomorrow night because I'll be flying all night (UGH!)

Auf Wiedersehen,

Friday night in Charlotte

Well, it is actually after midnight, so technically, I guess it is EARLY Saturday morning.  It's been a nice day here in Charlotte, although the majority of it has been spent indoors at the conference.     This morning's session was boring.  I was hoping we would learn practical tips for counseling families with financial issues (the topic was Financial Discourses), but the session mainly focused on research they had done.  At lunchtime I went to a meeting that I thought was about working with the military, but it was more about learning how to get a job with the military.  I guess I was meant to be there because I was able to pass on some helpful information.  The afternoon session was on instilling hope into our couples and families in therapy, it wasmamlittle better.

At the end of the day there was a "poster session" which allowed students to come and present there work.  They had a fancy dinner tonight, but because they were charging $50 a person, I chose not to go.  I went shopping at Walmart instead!  *smiles*. After the dinner there was a party/dance, so I went over for that, it was fun and I got out on the dance floor a few times.

Okay, time to sign off and head to bed.  G'night!

Auf Weidersehen,

First full day in Charlotte

So, today was my first full day in Charlotte.  The day at the conference (for me) was spent learning about counseling couples about sexual issues.  It was interesting to say the least.  In the exhibition hall there were several colleges/universities represented... Made me want to think about going back to school for a PhD.  And then I think I'm too old, or that I'd rather spend my money on traveling.

During our lunch break I explored as much as possible around the Uptown area.  I took a few pictures which I posted on Facebook.  Tonight after I got done (around 6:30) I came back to the hotel and then went back out to a mall to do a little shopping.  There is just not enough hours in the day!

Now it's almost 11pm, time for me to sign off and head to bed!

Made it to Charlotte!

Hi!  I made it to Charlotte after a long day of flying.  I slept a little on the flight across the water, but I'm still exhausted and ready to head to bed.  I didn't have any problems with the flights thank goodness!  When I landed in Atlanta I had an Auntie Anne's Pretzel and a chocolate glazed cake doughnut from Dunking Donuts.  I know, not very healthy...  But it tasted good!

Ok, time to sign off,
Auf Weidersehen,

Another late night... and HAPPY BIRTHDAY PEANUT!

Well, here it is almost 11pm and I'm still up, listening to music, putzing around. I took the doggies over to my friends' house about 7, it's been quiet being here without them. I spent time downloading pictures off my SD Cards for my cameras, so I can start off with plenty of memory for pictures (if I get a chance to take some), and my batteries are all charged (so are my Ipods and my Iphone). And that just reminded me to get my connector for my Ipad that will allow me to upload pictures to it (so I can at least upload pictures to Facebook anyway... I can't seem to be able to upload pictures to my blog with my Ipad...darn!).

Work went okay today, I managed to basically keep up with work despite some interruptions and then I didn't get out of the office until about 5:15 (my last session ended about 4:40pm and then I had to write up the notes).

Tomorrow morning I still need to get up early because I need to be at the airport about 8:45am. I'm going to drive over to one of the park & rides for the train and take the train on out to the airport from there, that way I can just hop on the train to come back and my car will be waiting for me. The lot I am using allows you to park your car for up to a week and it's only about 1.50 euro a day. So not bad.

I'm basically packed except my backpack that I'll carry. I'm surprised at how empty my suitcase is (I have two changes of clothes in my carry on suitcase). That's okay... I'm hoping to fill it up a little at least, by doing some shopping in Charlotte sometime this week.

Okay...almost midnight... I'd better sign off. BTW... Peanut was born on 9-11 and is 4 years old today! At least she has an easy birthday to remember (Bruno will be 4 on March 15th).

Today is National Suicide Awareness Day

I took this when I got home tonight (about 6pm) and took the dogs out for a walk. According to my (smart) phone, it said it was 82* out. Wonderful!

Work went okay today, I only had 3 appointments today, so this morning I focused on getting my peer reviews done. I had plans to get a couple of the notes written in an hour break between two afternoon appointments, but then my boss came in to talk and that kind of blew that idea. I think I got one note done and now have 5 more to do.

Tomorrow is going to be crazy, I've got 5 appointments and my last appointment is with a fairly large family and then I have to get all the notes written before I leave. YIKES! (that's only 25 pages of notes... right? In addition to the 40 pages from tomorrow and the 30 pages that I still need to finish from today. easy peazy (not).

BTW, as the title of my blog indicates, today is national (and international) suicide awareness day. And we all know that tomorrow is the anniversary of 9-11. It's also Peanut's 4th birthday tomorrow. For her birthday she gets to go stay with one of our docs and his wife (and the two doggie guests that we had this weekend). I'm taking them over some time tomorrow evening.

I have started packing, but still need to make sure I have all the misc (i.e. electronics... Ipad, phone, switch out and put my stateside pay as you go pin card in, my music stuff, camera's... my vitamins/pills, jewelry and that kind of stuff). Oh yea... can't forget my passport! *smiles*

Okay... gotta sign off.

Another Sunny Sunday!

I was amazed at the amount of contrails I saw in the sky this morning when I took the dogs out for their walk (one of them). Today was a wonderful sunny day. My thermometer said it was as high as 100 today. I think it was probably in the upper 80's officially. Today was my 2nd day of dog-sitting. Their owner came to pick them up about 6pm tonight. At least with walking two sets of dogs I haven't had a problem getting my 10,000 steps in.

Today I managed to spend some quality time in my hammock. I didn't fall asleep, but I did enjoy listening to music and relaxing and getting some sun!

Tonight I made my first ever (I think) home-made apple pie (I cheated on the crust though)... so I just had a slice of pie ala mode! Num num!

Okay... signing off for another day.

Another Sunny Saturday!

4 little doggies sitting in a row... Bruno, Peanut, Cody and Maizy. *smiles8

So... I'm dog sitting. Cody and Maizy are real sweethearts and are very gentle and kind... so it makes it easy.

This morning when I got back from walking Cody and Maizy, my neighbor came over in somewhat of a panic... apparently Tamie had taken Tia for her Softball games and Curt was supposed to take Trevor to his football games on his motorcycle... but he got out to start it and it turned over for a moment and then would NOT start. SO... he asked if I could do them a big favor... so I took them to Trevor's football game (Tamie was to pick them up). So... while I was out and it was fairly early (I'd already had my shower)... I decided to go do a little shopping and run some errands. It was nice to be out running around in the morning, usually I don't go out til afternoon. This afternoon though has been a little bit of a waste... playing on the computer for awhile, but then I did lay in my hammock for a little bit. It's hard to relax though, because all the dogs want to be out there with me and I've got to keep an eye on them to make sure they don't get off the porch.

I thought I was going to go to the Wienfest this afternoon with Tamie & Curt, but they are pooped from all their games today... so they aren't going (and I don't feel like going down by myself). I may wander down to the middle of my little town, they have a fest of sorts going on, but it has something to do with alpine skiing.

Anyway... thought I'd get this posted early today so I don't have to do it later. It's about time to take the dogs for their walks (my two, and then come back and take Cody & Maizy). Then I may walk over to the center of town.

It's another TGIF Friday!

This morning was 46* out and the sun was still coming up when I took the dogs out about 6:35 this morning... and the mist was settled over land

This was about 6pm tonight, it was about 75* out. I took this photo when I took the dogs out for their walk after I got home from work (I got home late because traffic was REALLY backed up... It was so backed up that I thought I was back in Honolulu! LOL!).

Work went fine, I basically got everything done that I needed to do today. Had a staff meeting this morning and we were talking about Social Work jobs and my boss made some comment and I reminded her that I wanted a promotion (if not here... then where I *can* get one). I had lunch with a friend (the person that used to watch my doggies), that was nice. I got out of work about 5pm (I swear... I *almost* always work a 9 hour day... I wish I could do the modified work week and get every other Friday off like a couple of my other co-workers are able to do!)

Tonight I did something out of character for me. I went with my neighbor (who is a fairly straight laced person) and a bunch of her friends/co-workers to see "Magic Mike." What a risque movie! I don't think I would have been quite as uncomfortable had I not run into a bunch of my (female) clients! YIKES!

Oh yea, and one of our docs brought his little pomeranians and I'm dog sitting them for the weekend. One of them is a little teacup pom. She's a cute as can be!

Okay... signing off because it is after midnight here...

Another crazy busy day...

My little town...

My favorite hunting tree stand

My favorite puppies...

The sun is setting at the end of the day...

So, today all my appointments showed up... all 7 of them. But, somewhere in between I managed to get a couple notes written. I think I still have about 10 notes to write tomorrow and then 10 charts to do peer reviews on. After work tonight I came home (a little late) and took the dogs out for a 2 1/2 mile walk. That tired them out for the evening! *smiles*

Not much else going on. I didn't bring any work home tonight, but last night I did 3 assessments. I meant to bring one other one home tonight to do, but forgot it (which is okay). Tomorrow I only have one appointment scheduled in the morning (we cannot schedule appointments in the afternoon because that's our time for training commitments). But, I'll be busy with all the paperwork.

Okay... signing off...

Easier day than expected

So, today was an easier day than I expected. I lucked out and had a "no-show" (a couple that have been doing well, so I'm not worried). I managed to get a couple notes written between appointments, and had a doctor's appointment during lunch (mainly to get a refill on some meds, but found out that my Vitamin D is low (1 pt above the bottom limit) so the doc is going to put me on a mega dose of Vitamin D to take once a week. I am not sure how that will work out given my malabsorption issues). Tonight I've managed to get 2 assessments done, it's about 9:15pm and I'd like to get two more written before bedtime if possible (then I would be caught up, would just have to get them entered at work on the computer there). Tomorrow is going to be a crazy day, I have 7 appointments scheduled which will mean 12 notes to write (some of the appointments are for couples). I'll be lucky if I see the light of day tomorrow! Hopefully on Friday I'll have a little bit of time to get my notes from Thursday done and then will have to try and keep on top of things for next Monday and Tuesday (Wednesday I'll be flying to Charlotte, NC for the conference... in my "spare" time today I managed to finalize most of that stuff). Sometime between now and the time I leave, I also need to review 10 clinical notes of a peer and get that submitted. The work just doesn't end sometimes. But, I guess that is job security.

Okay... signing off.

Whew! Caught a break!

Sheep grazing in France...

So... I *lucked* out and had one cancellation today (it was for a new appointment, which is a lot more documentation than a regular appointment). I still saw 8 people today (one appointment was a couple, another appointment was a parent with two kids). But, the free time was taken up in case consultation with a couple of my co-workers and checking in with my boss (who was out last week). I did manage to get 3 notes written and I'm hoping I can get a few more written up tonight here at home. (that sucks, huh!). I was also thinking about making some apple crisp to take in... but at the rate I'm going, it doesn't look like it's going to happen tonight. Maybe tomorrow night?

Not much going on after work (I'm still on call)... I've been catching up on Facebook and watching "Hotel Hell" with Chef Gordon Ramsey. Guess I'd better turn off the tv and get busy with my notes if I hope to get them done.

Labor Day Monday

An old house in Kintzheim, France

Driving into the town of Kintzheim

A flower tree at Monkey Mountain...

So, it felt like it was a productive day. I got up and took the dogs for a short walk, then went and got my nails done. I also did a little bit of shopping... I bought a pot for my Poinsetta that is STILL surviving! And tonight I went ahead and re-potted the plant... I hope that doesn't kill it! (I added some more soil as well). I went ahead and bought a pie pan (I thought I used to have one) and hope to make an apple pie tomorrow night (I'll just take it into work).

I went to Ikea for lunch, ended up having a small steak and some fries. The steak was a little tough. I found a small three tiered bookcase thing (but it's small). I need something to put my alarm clock on because it's too low there on my nightstand. I also bought some birthday cards because I have some birthdays coming up this month that I need to get cards out for (and two of those are going to be late because their birthdays are this week!).

After Ikea I went grocery shopping, I needed to pick up a couple things, and as is typical, I spent more than I had planned on. I got back home about 4:30-5pm and took the dogs out for a little longer walk. I can't go too far while I am on call.

Tonight I took some apples over to my neighbors (because I bought too many for ME to eat). And I went ahead and colored my hair and then I gave the dogs a bath. And I'm watching "Army Wives."

I have a busy week ahead, not really looking forward to it (but I *am* glad that my notes are done and that's one less thing I have to try and worry about). I think the best I can hope for is that 1 or two appointments will cancel/reschedule. Next weekend I'm babysitting a couple other doggies... hope it goes okay. They belong to one of our docs (and then they are supposed to watch the dogs while I am in Charlotte).

Okay... signing off.

Long Sunday night...

Some colorful buildings in the town of Kintzheim, France (in the Alsace region of France).

I know, I know... I shouldn't take photos while driving...but, but, but... there was a rainbow! I don't get to see so many of these since I moved from Hawaii! (this was on the way back from Monkey Mountain last weekend).

Today was nice... I slept in and altogether got more than 10 hours of "net" sleep (according to my fitbit, I don't remember how long I was in bed... and that includes getting up and letting the dogs out for a quick potty break and going back to sleep)... the night before I got 9 hours of sleep! Whoohoo! For someone who averages 6-7 hours of sleep... it has been really nice!

I took the dogs for a walk and forgot my fitbit... so I'm low on my reported steps today (on my fitbit). Then, this afternoon I went and played Bingo with some friends. I won one of the games, but I had to share it so I only won $50, but it was enough to pay for the game, so I kind of broke even. After that I went to work and got caught up on my notes that weren't finished from last week, so at least when I go in on Tuesday I'll start with a clean slate. And the last ones I saw from this past week are the first ones I'll see THIS week. I still have some assessments to get written, but hopefully that will come in due time.

Well, it's almost 1am, I'd better sign off. I've got a nail appointment in the morning, so no sleeping in all morning!

Over here in Europe, these kind of crosses/statues are very common

A vineyard near Kintzheim, France

So... I had a fairly productive day after getting over 9 hours of "net" sleep (I was in bed for over 10 hours and according to my fitbit, I woke up 19 times).

Today was focused on housecleaning. I vacuumed both the main floor and the basement, and I got the floors mopped this afternoon (even moving furniture around and getting as much as I could off the floor). I also washed my bedding and re-made my bed. I vacuumed out my car... got my "paper" recyclable stuff ready to drop off... hopefully tomorrow, but if not, then Monday. I've also done a couple loads of laundry.

I left home a little after 6pm and headed out to pick up my boss at the airport. She's been in London this past week. Her car is in the shop, so other than calling a taxi, she doesn't have any way to get around (I think she's getting her car back on Monday). After dropping her off, I stopped at the RE-AL store and picked up a few items. I guess my brain must have been thinking right... because I only had 25 euro on me, and it was 24 euro and some change. Which reminds me... one of the produce people came around knocking on doors, so I bought some fresh apples and he gave me some plums and a couple oranges. Guess I need to start eating some fruit! (I did have a plum and a banana today).

Okay... time to sign off... it's almost 10:30pm.
