Oh my Gosh it's Saturday?

This is what it looks like when you look up into the inside of a Hot Air Balloon. At least this is what the balloon looked like that *I* went up in! By the way... those propane tanks put out a WHOLE lot more BTU's than your furnace does!

So. I stayed up last night until about 2am. Whoops. Probably not good. And then for some reason the on-call phone wasn't working (got turned off? Ran out of battery power?)... so about 9:30 this morning I got a call on my home phone... (related to "on-call" stuff). Thankfully it wasn't anything I needed to respond to. So... I decided to go ahead and get up, get my shower and start being somewhat productive. I ended up spending about 6 hours detailing the inside of my car. And I almost got done! But... alas... had to deal with another "on-call" issue that required my presence, so I was gone from about 3:45 until about 7:15pm. My co-workers will have to deal with the aftermath of that this coming week. Ya know... I've been pulling on call for about 15 months and have only had to go in twice... and this week I've gotten about 3 times as many phone calls and have had to "go in" twice! Whassup with that? (Someone suggested Spring Equinox?). Oh well. Guess I'll get some overtime.

Which reminds me about an issue that is a pet peeve. Why is it when you have a choice of overtime or comp time. You get over time at 1.5 times your pay, whereas everywhere I've worked, comp-time is a 1:1 thing. So... if I worked 5 hours of overtime, then I would get 7.5 hours of pay, but only get to take 5 hours off if I chose comp time. Something doesn't seem right about that.

Oh well... such is life. And such is life that I only had 1 number right in the Mega Millions lottery last night. *smiles* Guess I'm meant to keep working.

Okay... I'm going to sign off and hope I can be in bed within the next two hours (it's 9:40pm right now).

Auf Wiedersehen!

Whew I'm REALLY glad it's Friday!

A piece of art at the Phoenix (small) airport where I did the Hot Air Balloon ride... I liked it because it reminded me of the tail of an airplane.

Desert roses? (at the same airport).

So glad it's Friday! I think I've mentioned I'm on-call. I got 3 calls last night. Two earlier in the evening (before bedtime)... and then another one that came in about 1:30am. UGH! At least I didn't have to go in for any of the phone calls... but I did have to write them up this morning for my co-worker. I only had one appointment scheduled this morning... and they no-showed... so it gave me more time to get things done.

I had errands to run at lunch time. I wanted to mail a package to my daughter through the American system... but found out that post office is only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays now. WHAT??? Then I stopped by the bank to talk to them about auto loans. I'll see how things go.

THEN, I was going to go to the German Audi dealership to see if the Yellow Audi TT there was factory painted... but then the on-call phone rang (they had tried to call the office, but no one was answering because everyone was at lunch). So... I pulled over and took the call... then turned right back around (no lunch and didn't get to see the car) to go back to work to ensure my co-worker got the message (a kid in crisis) because she was due back to work in 10 minutes. I wanted to look the information up online in our data system... but of course... it went down and wasn't available. Thankfully this teen was known to my co-worker, so I didn't have to dig up more information.

The rest of the afternoon was just as busy and I left work about 10 minutes late. Whew! After work I had to run some errands... (which I *could* do because I didn't have to rush home to take the dogs out...).

Since I got home, I've been online chatting with my friend who is coming over for a month this summer... she's just SOOOO excited!

Oh yea... and did I mention that if I want a new Audi Q5, that I would have to wait until October to get it. They've apparently stopped making 2012's (American Specs anyway)... so at least it would be a 2013. I don't want to wait that long though. I've also told the dealer I don't want a Black, White OR Gray color. He said he's got a Solar Orange Audi TTS Roadster. I told him I'll think about it. I may just end up with a bright orange TT! At least I could find it in any color. (It reminds me of the Harley Davidson colors! LOL!).

So... did you buy a lottery ticket? I did. Well... I had a friend in the States buy me a ticket. (It only takes one... right?). Of course... like everyone else who has bought one... I dream about what I would do with it. Of course... pay off my debt... then I'd pay off the debt of my family members (kids and siblings). Then I'd buy my car... and decide whether or not to keep working (for real). I'd probably invest in some properties.... so I can perpetuate the income. And invest in some stock... and take SOME time off for traveling! Gotta get to those 100 countries! *smiles*

Okay... enough dreaming... time to sign off.

Future travel plans...

This was the sunrise on my way to work this morning...

So... I've been making some travel reservations for April. I've decided to go up to the Eastern Germany city of Leipzig for Easter weekend and then the middle of the month I'm going to head up to Berlin for the weekend. Both should be interesting cities. Of the two I'm more interested in seeing Berlin. I'm looking forward to taking a ride in an elevator that goes up through a cylindrical aquarium. How cool is that?

Work-wise... today was okay. I had one cancellation, so it freed up some of my day which was nice. Tonight I've gotten two calls (on-call), but both just involved taking down information to pass onto co-workers tomorrow.

After work I had to run some errands and sheesh, traffic was HORRIBLE! I didn't get home until almost 7 (and all I did was stop at ONE store!). I wanted to drop off my plastic bottles for recycling and pick up a couple things at one of the local German grocery stores (the RE-AL store, which is kind of like a Walmart). At least I didn't have to worry about rushing home to the doggies (I would not have gone then, I would have waited for the weekend).

I made some salmon and rice for dinner (num, num). I was going to have some strawberries and whip cream tonight, but it's already 9:40pm and I'm hoping to get to bed soon. I've been online making travel arrangements (I'm taking the train to Leipzig and I'm flying to Berlin) and watching "American Idol" on TV.

Time to sign off for another day/night though... hope you have a GREAT day!

First long walk without the doggies...

"The Road to Contrails..."

"Hump Day sunset"

Well, so much for getting to bed early last night. I think I may have mentioned that I am "on-call" this week. Well, I got a call about 9:45 and had to go in and deal with a case, and I didn't get back home until after 1am. Of course... then I was wound up and couldn't fall right to sleep, so I ended up with about 4 hours of sleep. I managed to make it through my busy day. I had a staff meeting first thing this morning and then had six appointments scheduled, thankfully the last one was a no-show (misunderstanding when the appointment was). So... all in all it was a busy day.

I forgot my "fitbit" at home though today... so as a "reward" I did a 4.5 mile walk tonight. (UGH!). Of course it felt good to do it, but I walked a FAST pace (at least for me), it was just under 17.40 minutes a mile.

Then I came home and had some strawberries & whip cream for my desert. After I get my blog done I'm going to head to bed and hope to get a decent night's sleep.

Okay... signing off!

More Hot Air Balloon pictures

Getting ready to go up in the balloon

Up in the air

They put a 'Happy Birthday" sign on our balloon... it was within a day of two others who were also going on a Hot Air balloon ride.

Out in the desert after we landed...

Well... I am going to try and keep this short... I'm tired and I've been dozing off and on as I try to watch "The Voice."

Work went fine... although my co-worker let me know how busy she was while I was gone (still only seeing 1/2 the people that I do). I had six people scheduled and had one "no-show." I have six scheduled for tomorrow AND a 1 hour meeting. I did manage to get my notes all done for today... trying to keep them up to date.

Okay... keeping this short... (BTW... I'm on call... and yes, it's weird to come home and not have the dogs greet me at the door barking).

Auf Wiedersehen!

This was the sunset in Arizona on my last night there...

This was from my sunrise hot air balloon ride (at this point there were two balloons up, this one and the one I was in).

So... I made it back without any problems. I was worried about having a short layover in Minneapolis, but it ended up being in the same concourse. I came in at #1 and my flight to Amsterdam was going out of gate #6. The flight over to Amsterdam was uneventful. I sat next to a guy that used to be in the Holland Air Force. After they served dinner, I took an Ambien and went to sleep and dozed off and on. I had a long layover in Amsterdam (which was nice... I got to wander around and get a bite to eat and I didn't have to feel rushed).

My neighbors picked me up at the airport (my baggage took forever to get off the plane). Since coming home I've been unpacking some of my stuff and I've watched "Undercover Boss" and "Amazing Race." I'm going to sign off now and head downstairs with my bags and get them unpacked and then I'll head to bed.

So... g' night!

Auf Wiedersehen!

Great Saturday!

So, I woke up shortly after 3am and couldn't fall bak to sleep, I was due to get up at 4am so I could be out the door by 4:30am. I needed to be at the Deer Valley airport for the hot air balloon ride by 5:30 am. I made it with plenty of time to spare. We got to watch the sunrise from about 4,000 ft. It was awesome! And I met a nice couple from Kentucky - Joany & her husband. Joany is a cancer survivor, she will be turning 41 tomorrow. We exchanged email addresses & I have her Facebook name. When I return to Germany, I'll post some pictures (I got some good ones).

What did I do today otherwise? I went to Trader Joes (and got some recyclable bags with their logo on them to take back to Germany. I had lunch at "In & Out Burger", I picked up my ring from the jeweler, I test drove the Audi TT and the Audi Q5 (Yay!). I think if I can get the Q5 in yellow, then that would be my choice. So... I'll see how things work out when I get back to Germany.

I also went to the Sheridan resort to watch the sunset and I went to a casino for a little bit tonight. On the way home I went to "Sub-zero Ice Cream", it is a lot like Coldstone, but even better!

Now it's almost 11:30pm, time for me to sign off and head to bed. At least my flight from here doesn't leave until mid afternoon tomorrow. I have a lot of stuff to get packed somehow!

Auf Weideresehen!

It's my Birthday and I'll party if I want to, party if I want to! LOL

So... yes, today has been my 55th birthday. I had hoped to celebrate it by going on a hot air balloon ride, but it has gotten rescheduled until tomorrow morning. So... instead I went out and hung out with my friends Dan & Patricia and had a wonderful, fun visit with them. Dan & I worked together in Hawaii. Patricia & I quickly became friends while I stayed with them just before I moved to Germany. We went out to dinner at the Cracker Barrel restaurant, it was great! I got sang to for my birthday (and I bought another quilt from them) I also had lunch at Red Lobster and got sung to there by the wait staff. So.. it's been a good day. I've been able to do a little bit more shopping. But now it's after 10pm an we have to be up at the airport by 5:30am
I need to get up a 4am
Time for me to sign off...
ambien is kicking in!

Great day in Phoenix!

So... I've had a great and productive day here in Phoenix! First stop this morning was the Apple store to get my new iPad. While I was there, I found a cool watchband that you can put a "nano" on and wear it like a watch. How cool is that? And the Nano has 18 different styles of clocks that you can use.. from the traditional, to Micky or Minnie Mouse, or some of the Sesame Street Characters. I'm almost more enamored by my watch than my new iPad! LOL!

After the Apple Store I went over to a mall to get my iPad "wrapped." This will keep it protected better and will keep the glass from getting scratched. While at the mall I did some clothes shopping. I love what I got at Macy's (I bought a nice black suit, a nice pair of black pants and a couple sweaters). I also spent too much money at the Cold Creek store, picked up a couple outfits there. I enjoyed some "Auntie Annie" pretzel bites and a very small kid-sized DQ chocolate dip cone. I went to the jewelry store to see about getting two watches fixed and the guy said he couldn't fix either one. Guess I'll have to find someone in Germany to fix them for me. I did drop off my "Greek Key" ring (it's a reversible ring... hard to explain). I had it sized last year and one of the soldering things didn't hold. (there are two rings attached to each other).

Then I went to AAA and got a new International Driver's License (they are only good for a year). So... THAT is taken care of. Then I went to Olive Garden for a late lunch/early dinner, then I went to Best Buy to get a specific case for my new iPad. Then I went to Walmart and got my nails done and picked up a few things there (two pairs of jeans, some camisoles, some chocolate animal crackers, some kettle corn popcorn)... stuff I can't get in Germany.

So... it's been a great (but expensive) day. AND I found out I get to go on a Hot Air Balloon ride tomorrow afternoon for a sunset ride. How cool is that? It'll be a GREAT way to celebrate my birthday! I'm thinking I might go test drive some Audi's tomorrow (I'd love to test drive a TT and the Q5). It's easier to do that here than in Germany, if you can believe that!

Okay... I'm going to sign off.

In Phoenix

Just a quick post to let everyone know that I made it okay to Phoenix (a little late... but I made it). Fortunately I found out BEFORE I left home, that my flight leaving Stuttgart was delayed by 3 hours. That meant I missed my connection in Atlanta, but they scheduled me on a later flight (so I had about 3 hours in Atlanta). That at least allowed me time to get Bruno off the plane and go visit the dog park there for awhile.

Bruno & Peanut seem to be happy to be reunited.

Okay... gotta scoot, it's after midnight.

A walk in the woods...

This old cabin is along the way we walked today (that we walk every now again)

Another beautiful sunset...

Hello! it's a beautiful day in the woods...

Bruno posing for one last time in the woods before we fly off to Arizona tomorrow. It was his last walk in the woods over here for awhile. I think he'll miss it, but I know he'll enjoy being reunited with Peanut.

SO... work went okay today. I had another new appointment that didn't show up this morning. That allowed me to work on some of my training requirements. Then my last appointment of the day didn't show up either (unusual), so then I got to make sure everything was wrapped up before leaving.

Although... this morning didn't start off right... I was tired and I left home without my work ID card (and I need that to log onto the computer at work), so half way to work I had to turn around and come back home to get it. Thankfully I didn't have an appointment scheduled real early this morning.

Tonight I've still got to give Bruno a bath and I've been doing some last minute laundry. (And get my blog done). Hard to believe I'll be in Phoenix tomorrow night! Looking forward to getting a lot done in a short amount of time! I'm going to get my nails done, get two watches and a ring fixed... go shopping, and go to GNC. AND... if it works out, I'm hoping I can go on a Hot Air Balloon ride.

If I don't post tomorrow night... forgive me... I'll post when I can.

Auf Wiedersehen!

One more day of work this week!

Here's a photo of the sunset from tonight...

So... work started off slow. I had a meeting first thing this morning, but then my 9am appt which was supposed to last 1 1/2 hours didn't show. (and I hadn't booked anyone at 10:30) so the only appointment I had this morning was my 11am appointment. This afternoon I had 3 scheduled... so it WAS a busy afternoon. I managed to get all my notes done today so I don't have to worry about that tomorrow (I have 5 1/2 hours of appointments scheduled for tomorrow). I am really going to try and leave on time tomorrow because I want to stop and check my mail before I come home and that always causes a little bit of a delay. Poor Bruno, it was 5:45 by the time I got out of the office this afternoon (I was trying to get a mandatory training done today as well!). So... he was "dancing" when I got home because he wanted to go for his walk and potty break. He's spoiled... he's been eating anything BUT his dog food. I give him some roasted Turkey when I get home and then he usually gets a bite or two of my dinner (tonight it was steak). In the morning he gets a bite of my toast with peanut butter, plus a doggy treat when I leave.

Tonight I've had a rather relaxing evening. I chatted online with my friend who is coming over this summer (SUCH a worry wart she is!). And I watched "Undercover Boss" and "The Amazing Race." The episode of Amazing Race took place here in Germany, how cool is that? They were down in Bavaria at the Neuschwanstein castle and over in Fussen. I've been there! *smiles*

Okay... time to sign off. I need to go put the rest of the steak into a baggy for dinner tomorrow night and I need to get ready for bed.

Stetten am Heuchelberg Volksmarch

A farm along the volksmarching path...

and there were some horses along the way...

We walked through the wine fields...

And stopped at the checkpoint to get a bite to eat. (This was at a winery and they were selling wine... I didn't buy any... I don't drink much, but I sure wasn't going to carry any back to the beginning.

Bruno knows which way to go...

Milchhausle means "Domestic milk." Hmmmm is this a "milk house?"

This is such a Germany tradition... to decorate bushes and trees with Easter eggs. *smiles*

These buildings were in the heart of the town... I *love* half timbered buildings.

SO... I ended up doing the Volksmarch a little over an hour north of where I live. I was going to do the 10k, but it was raining about halfway through, so I only did the 6k. I took Bruno with me and when it started raining while we were at the checkpoint, I figured I'd just carry him to keep him from getting dirty. And I got kind of chewed out by two German women (who didn't speak English) that were busy telling me that he should be walking, like their dog. (Maybe they thought I never walk him and I spoil him by carrying him?). Anyway... so he did end up walking the whole way. I am thankful that I had a towel in the car, he was a muddy mess by the time we got back to the car.

Other than that, I'm basically all packed for my trip on Wednesday. I just need to pack my carry-on bag. Not much happening tonight. I'm watching "America's Funniest Home Videos."

Okay... signing off... hope you enjoyed the pics!

Auf Wiedersehen!

VERY Lazy Saturday...

My little boy today when we were out walking. We did our regular 2.5 mile walk today. It was beautiful out... about 70*.

SO... Happy St. Paddy's day (officially). I hope you remembered to wear GREEN! (I didn't when I first got up this morning, but when we got back from our short morning walk, I changed). I put on my long-sleeved GREEN University of Hawaii tee shirt and I had my GREEN Moldavite earrings on.

Talk about a LAZY day! I've done some laundry, did up the few dishes I had to do and we did our walk... and that's been it! I've napped a COUPLE times (totally unusual for me!) and I've been eating snacks all day (whassup with THAT???). I did get a couple things out as I prepare to pack for my upcoming trip, but otherwise... just hanging out on the computer, playing games.

BUT... I also fully believe we need days like today. Everyone needs a "Chill" day once in awhile.

So... not a lot else to write about. I talked with my American neighbor for about an hour tonight. There were some tentative plans to go out for dinner tonight, but now we are going to wait until I get back from Phoenix and go out. (I won't have to worry about getting home to the doggies).

Still no plans for tomorrow. There's a Volksmarch about an hour and a half north of here, but I don't feel like driving that far. There's a part of me that thinks if I drive THAT far, I might as well drive down to Munich to go to the St. Paddy's day parade... but then... I'm not sure where I'd park and I'm not sure I want to go by myself. My neighbors have a birthday party to go to tomorrow. I checked into taking the train down there... but it just seemed too expensive (like more than 120 euros or something...and is it really worth $150 to take the train down for a parade?). SO... who knows. It may end up being another chill day. It'll probably depend on what time I get to bed tonight and what the weather looks like tomorrow.

Okay... signing off...

Auf Wiedersehen!

It's NOW St. Paddy's day here in Germany!

This is the side profile of my new Polish Pottery butter dish that I bought today at the Spring Bazaar...

This is what it looks like from the top. I'm going to like it because I usually buy the square packaged butter over here. *smiles*

Another beautiful sunset tonight. There wasn't a cloud in the sky!

So... work went okay today. I had one appointment this morning that went smoothly, then I took a longer than normal lunch (heck, yesterday I only took a half hour for lunch... so I'm totally okay with taking a longer leisure lunch today) and I went down the street to where the Spring Bazaar was being held (they bring in vendors from all over Europe and there was even someone selling stuff from Africa, Russia and Australia). I bought a couple things... the butter dish above and I bought a simple leather purse that is the size of an Ipad! That works for me!

This afternoon was spent getting caught up on documentation and then I got off work a half hour early. I came home and took Bruno out for a potty break and then took him over to my Vet for his health check up so I can fly him back to the States on Wednesday. The doc said he is very well behaved for his breed (chihuahua) and that I've trained him well (probably because he doesn't "snap" at people... only other dogs he's afraid of). Although then after that I had to show him how Bruno will twirl around for a treat or sit and shake for a treat! *smiles* Bruno did good to when I put him on the scale and told him to "sit" and "stay" and he minded! He weighs just over 10 pounds.

On our way home we stopped and walked through some fields (on a paved path) and I was smart enough to bring my camera (hoping for a good sunset)... and it was lovely!

Tonight I have just been on the computer (haven't done ANYTHING to speak of) but I *did* talk to my middle daughter for quite a long time. It's BEEN a long time since I've talked with her so it was good to chat.

Okay... signing off... it's after 1am (Typical for me on a weekend night... to stay up WAY too late). I still need to look and see where the volksmarches are this weekend and see if I want to drive to one of them tomorrow morning and then tomorrow night I'm going out with my neighbor and another friend of hers (that I've met and gone on volksmarches with) for dinner. Tammy had a birthday this past week, I think Katie has a birthday coming up and of course... I have one this next Friday. *smiles*

Sunset photos from tonight!

So... work was busy today. I didn't get out of the office until about 5. Tomorrow should be easier. I just have a new client coming in for an appointment and then the rest of the day will be focused on getting caught up on paperwork and doing a bunch of training requirement.

Tomorrow the "Spring Bazaar" starts. They bring in vendors from all over Europe and have quite a bit of stuff on sale. I'm planning to walk over at lunchtime.

After work I came home and took Bruno for another 2.5 mile walk. It was about 65 degrees this afternoon, but as the sun started setting, it started getting colder.

Okay... keeping this short.

Happy Pi Day

So... after work I took Bruno for a walk... it was something like 56* degrees out and the weather was awesome! And we had a good time... just over 19 minutes per mile. We did 2 1/2 miles.

Work was rather busy. I had gotten up first thing this morning and made two pans of chocolate chip cookies to take in and we had a staff meeting first thing this morning (so they got to enjoy the cookies). I think I had four appointments today, including a new person. I think I am catching a little bit of a break tomorrow.

During my "free" time today at work I wiped down my desk and furniture. I have one co-worker that is a SLOB... and I think it motivates me to ensure MY office doesn't get to be like that.

Not much else going on... just same old, same old... at least tonight. *smiles* I had some steak for dinner and some green beans (if I'd had a small baked potato, I may have eaten that too.

Okay... signing off...

Is it Friday yet? *smiles*

On Saturday when my company was here and we went out to the Ritter Sport Chocolate company, we had some hot chocolate. The way they make it out there, is they put a quarter of a chocolate bar in the bottom of the cup and then put steaming milk on top. It's absolutely delicious!

So... today was relatively busy. I had a new couple scheduled for 8 am and they called because they had forgotten it, so they came in at 1pm instead (my only other opening for today). I also had a new kid that I saw (I've got a previous history with the family). And so many other weird things today. My boss was feeling better (that was a GOOD thing). I also had my "preliminary" interview for the job. They apparently have 2 positions they are going to hire for. I'm not interested in the one that is in kind of a remote area, mainly because of where it is located, but also because that job is supposed to end in 2014. I don't want to feel pressured to have to look for a job then. The person I talked to isn't sure when they will be able to hire for the other position (which would be a little over 2 hours north of where I currently live). I don't expect to hear any more for a couple months, but IF they are interested in hiring me, I *wouldn't* be surprised to get a call in a couple months to ask me to go through the official hiring process. Time will tell. it will either happen, or it won't. *smiles*

Not much else is happening... so I'll sign off for another day.

My eyes are looking good...

Here's some photos that I took of myself yesterday... my eyes are looking pretty good, huh! These were taken at the Mercedes museum.

So... work was fairly busy today... I had a staff meeting at 8am, and then had a 9am appt. My 10am called to reschedule (so I got my 9am appt written up), then I had an 11am appointment. At 1 I had a new couple come in and that appointment lasted almost 2 hours... and took me right into my 3pm appointment which ran a little long, so we wrapped up about 4:30pm. Then I found out my supervisor had gone over to the main clinic because her blood pressure was really high... over 200 for the top number. YOWZA! So... I hung out until she was done, to make sure she was okay. They are putting her on some blood pressure medication, I hope that takes care of it okay for her.

So... interesting day.

Okay... signing off...

Mercedes Museum

Looking up towards the top of the Mercedes museum...

The elevators in the Mercedes museum made the MSNBC list of coolest elevators in the world. How cool is that? *smiles*

My friend Laura's son Johnny checking out the old style gas pump!

Everytime I see this, I think of my dear friend Walt who spent the majority of his life as a Conductor on the railway... this one's for you Walt!

Just a good photo, I think!

So... this morning we got up and went to the Mercedes Museum. Laura and her kids were dutifully impressed (and I got another Mercedes Lanyard to add to my collection (I already had 1, wonder how many I will get before I leave the Stuttgart area?). We spent a few hours there (it takes that many to get through all 9 or so floors of vehicles they have there!).

After we got back, about 1;30 or so, Laura and her kids packed up and headed home (they had to stop and pick up her other daughter on the way). I went upstairs and pulled all the bedding off and through it down the shoot (well... down between the three floors of stairwell) and I de-flated the inflatable bed. My German washer and dryer are SOOO small, I can only do one set of sheets at a time. I've got the 2nd set of sheets in the dryer and the third set in the washer. I did go back up and got the bed in the "green" (bed)room made back up (so... one room is ready for company! *wink*). Otherwise... I've just been "chilin" on the computer... I "chatted" online with my younger sister for awhile... I should have just picked up the phone and called her. She said she went to Aunt Perky's funeral the other day along with my sister Vonnie and my younger brother Donny. She also said my oldest brother Keith had been in the hospital again, so I should check with them to see what happened. I worry about him.

Okay... it's about 8:50pm. I'm hoping to get one more bed made and one more load of laundry in the wash before I call it a night. I'm NOT ready for this week. I have a busy schedule this coming week with a new client coming in every day (which means more work). I'm going to pray for a peaceful week with no drama!

Signing off...

I wonder how long THIS candy bar was in production? LOL! This was one of the bars they were showing up in the museum (all the various bars they've made over the years).

I got up this morning and finished cleaning house (primarly needed to sweep, mop and dust). Then I made some chocolate chip cookies which were just finishing up getting done being baked when my friend from Baumholder showed up for the weekend. Laura came down with two of her kids (she dropped one of her daughters off to meet an old friend that they used to know in Hawaii, so the oldest daughter will be spending the night with her).

I've got Laura, Ariel (16) and Johnny (11) spending the night. They didn't get to the house until about 2:30 or so, then we sat around chatting (after giving them a tour of the house). Then I suggested that we go over to the Ritter Sport (chocolate) company, so we did. They were celebrating the renovation of their museum and were having drawings and such. Johnny got a balloon and then won a "chocolate making" class. He was the only American kid in the class (of about 10 or 12). I think they just did the chocolate making part, not the part where they take them to the art museum as well. He enjoyed himself - the class lasted about an hour.

Tonight Ariel helped me make dinner, we pan-fried some chicken and then had potato wedges and corn for dinner. For desert we had fresh strawberries with whip cream. YUM!

Tomorrow morning we are going to get up and go to the Mercedes Museum, that should be fun. I've been there before, but I think the kids will enjoy it.

Okay... signing off (it's 9:25pm).

Hooray, hooray, it's another Friday!

Whew... I only worked three days this week, but it's been a long three days! (And next week is supposed to be VERY busy!).

I didn't even have any appointments today, but I had a couple long meetings and then I completed my notes from this week.

Tonight I have been doing laundry (fun) and I changed my bedding (and washed those as well).

Tomorrow I have company coming down from Baumholder, so I'll get up and sweep and mop tomorrow morning. The house is clean (I don't get it too dirty), the upstairs is ready (although I should get up and put the inflatable bed in the 3rd bedroom and get that bed made up.

My plan is to NOT stay up too late tonight (it's almost 10:30, so will probably be heading to bed soon), then sleep in tomorrow morning til 8 or 9, then get up and do my chores. *smiles*

So... will sign off for another day...

Another interesting day at work...

First thing this morning I got a call from a parent that wants me to see their teenage child. It's a LONG story. I spent about a half hour on the phone with her... but unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond MY control... I cannot see the child. (If it were just up to me, I'd be happy to see the kid). Anyway... it made for a frustrating day. I've probably mentioned it before, but this is the case that I've been caught in the middle of. UGH!

I had two of my appointments for today that rescheduled earlier in the week, and then I had one couple that had a scheduling conflict, so they had to reschedule as well. SO... that made an easier day for me.

By the way... a Social Worker friend here in Germany wanted me to submit my resume to someone who is collecting them to hire for three positions. So, I decided... what the heck... it doesn't hurt to put some feelers out and see what comes up. I'd definitely not like to leave my current location... but maybe they can make it worth my while? Time will tell.

Tonight I've been wasting time online updating my Iphone and Ipad... and here it is 10pm again tonight. SO... I'd better sign off.

My eyes are healing nicely

My eyes are healing nicely... don't you think?

So... today was an interesting first day back at work. We had a staff meeting that got rather "strained" - THAT was interesting. Then I had one no-show... but there was an appointment that I had scheduled for tomorrow, that came in at that time... so it all worked out okay! Whew!
So... it was a pretty full day. I think I had 5 appointments, plus a couple where I had an extra person in the session (i.e. a parent came that wasn't scheduled). I didn't get ANY notes written... so since my schedule tomorrow has had some modifications (reschedulings)... maybe I can get caught up on those notes tomorrow. I also spent too much time in staff meetings.

I *did* find the time to forward my resume (at the request of a friend) to a person that will be doing some hiring for three Social Worker positions. Not sure if anything will come of it... just kind of putting feelers out. I'd rather not leave where I am at... I *love* my house that I'm living in.

Tonight I finally made my reservations, I'm going to fly back to Phoenix for my birthday and stay with some friends there. I'll leave here on March 21st and leave there March 25th, getting back here on the 26th. It's more leave than I wanted to take right now... but fare-wise it was the cheapest in the time area. I'm planning to get a new international driver's license while I'm there and then to stock up on some of my protein drink. And... I'll be taking Bruno back to join Peanut and he'll be staying there with friends for awhile. (6 months to a year?).

He's still pining for Peanut... he misses her and the house is so quiet without her here. It'll be interesting when they are both stateside. Guess I'll have to pester my neighbor kids more! LOL!

Okay... signing off. It's past my bedtime. (My problem is that I've been "chatting" online with a friend in Texas WAY too much in the evenings and not getting much else done. She's a teacher and she has 'study period" in the afternoon while it's evening time here (although we have been chatting for 2-3 hours back and forth so maybe part of it is prep time or she has a class?). She's coming over for a month June 28th - July 31st this summer... she's already got her tickets... but man... she's amped! So... of course wants to talk about all the possibilites of things to do over here. She does have some friends up in Hamburg she's going to go spend some time with as well, so that'll be good... and she knows I have to work while she's here... but still... is SO full of anticipation. I haven't seen her since 1994 and we have only reconnected this past year).

SO... bedtime for me...

So... today was my last day before going back to work... so guess what I did? Some housecleaning. Not as much as I had hoped to, but at least the top floor is cleaned and prepped for company. I did get the main floor vacuumed and the kitchen pretty much cleaned up.

Peanut is on her way to the states as I write this. I had left Bruno home and he's been struggling since I got back, wondering where she is and missing her. I'm missing her too. She'll be okay and in good hands though. And in a couple weeks I'll fly Bruno back to be with her.

I did go into work today (I had to pick up the "on-call" phone, because I'm starting my week of being on-call) and MAN, do I have a bunch of appointments scheduled for the next couple weeks. Whew! Oh well... job security, right? Which reminds me... apparently there are a couple Social Worker positions coming open over here in Germany, both would bump me up to the next level of pay, one of the positions I've done before, and the other is a new field area that they are opening up. Guess I'll have to ask my supervisor what it's worth to keep me here in this office?

Other than that... I'm just tired today. I've had a couple long days and I can't believe I've got to go back to work tomorrow. I feel like I'd LOVE a couple more days off to rest... but I *am* doing better and everyone at work said my eyes are looking great (I know, I know... I need to take another photo and post it, eh?).

Okay... signing off.

Stitches are out!

So... this morning I drove up to Landstuhl for my 2nd post-op appointment. The doc said I'm healing very nicely (and quickly... those phrases I used during surgery work, I tell you... they work!). I got my stitches out (that hurt a little bit). I can hardly tell they are out by looking at myself (in the mirror), but I know that they "blood lines" (dried blood... whatever) will go away soon. I'm so happy I didn't bruise more. I'll take another picture of my eyes in another day or so and post it.

While up in the Kaiserslautern area, I went ahead and did some grocery shopping (they have more choices up there) and a little shopping at the mall there. I didn't get back home until about 7pm.

Okay... I'm going to sign off for tonight.

Auf Wiedersehen.

Photos from our long doggy walk today

This is my doggies favorite position after a LONG walk. We did over 6 miles today! Whooohoo! We should ALL sleep good tonight! And tomorrow I have an early morning because I have to drive up to Landstuhl to get the stitches taken out of my eyelids (which are looking better each day).

Not much going on today. I *did* take the dogs for a long walk. I really enjoy walking in the woods, it's almost like a form of meditation for me and helps me to "process" or "think" and clar my head.

I'll keep this short today...

Auf Wiedersehen!
