Pau Hana Friday....

So... this morning was slow but this afternoon made up for it. I had a situation that started about lunchtime and was still going on when I left work about 5:45pm. I'll probably have to continue to deal with it next week. Fortunately one of my co-workers at my location is the one on-call this week, so I was able to brief her on the situation in case she gets a call for more intervention.

On another note... I found out this morning that I'm going to have another grandchild the end of January. My youngest daughter is about 3 months pregnant. She's excited about the pregnancy and she sent me a picture of the ultrasound. She doesn't know the sex yet, but she's hoping in another month or so to find out.

I'm going to keep this short for tonight.

Sunset paddling...

Another shot from Waimea Bay when I went up there for sunset the other night. Hawaii sure is a beautiful place! *smiles* This young kid was about 12 years old and was out learning how to do the stand-up paddling (which is becoming very popular here in HI).

Work went okay today, it was relatively quiet. One of my co-workers had group this afternoon with 11 participants (which is a LOT to do by yourself), so I volunteered to help her. The group was on Anger Management and it was quite a lively discussion. *smiles*

Tonight I've just been playing bejeweled (I'm addicted)... and right now I'm watching "The Mentalist."

I'm keeing an eye on the weather, we have a tropical storm developing southeast of Hilo (on the Big Island). From what I understand, those that develop there are the most dangerous to Hawaii. There have been a couple that have turned into Hurricanes and come to Hawaii from that area. And there are many who say that Hawaii is overdue for a hurricane. We'll know more by this weekend.

Okay... time to sign off. Bruno has decided to sit on my lap between me & my laptop! *smiles*

Another view of the boat

Thought you'd like this picture as well.

Darn... I almost forgot to blog again. Oops! So... it's now bedtime.
Work was fine today. We had our case staffiing, I only got to present two of the three I needed to present because not all the people I needed for the 3rd case were there. I'll just present that case next time. I also met with a couple clients this afternoon.
As I continue to look for some training to participate in, there is an international conference being held here in October that I might be able to go to. It's not exactly the kind of training I wanted to do... I wanted one more experiential that I could use in treating my clients... but I guess that will come in time. Which reminds me... I saw a job online that sounds interesting, it's in DC though, but the pay is GREAT. It's with the government, a different branch than the norm, but I happen to know a muckity-muck that works for that division and so I've emailed and asked about the position. Not sure if he'll know about the particular one that I'm interested in... but time will tell. The only downer is that I would have to pay my own moving expenses.
Most likely I'll just stay put, but I'm also keeping my options open because my contract in my current position is up for re-bid in September.
Wow... time sure flies, doesn't it? My middle daughter will be here in less than 3 weeks. I can't wait to see her and go have fun with her here in Hawaii. (Now if my other daughters would just come down!!).
I've been enjoying all the new connections I have been making on Facebook. I found out that one of the people I used to know up in Alaska now lives in Costa Rica. Not sure where, but it would be neat if it were where I am going to be on December 5th (Puerto Limon, Costa Rica).
Okay... time to sign off. I just got done taking my puppies out for a walk, now it's bedtime.
Aloha!

Solo swimmer

Another picture of sunset at Waimea Bay... a single person enjoying the water as the sun sets.

How was your day? Mine was relatively busy, I had group this morning with 10 clients, and then met with another client this afternoon. I have a couple co-workers back from two weeks of training, it's good to have them back. I had to help them and one other with some computer problems (I'm the most computer literate at work... must be that 2 year degree I had in computer programming? Or maybe the 15+ years of working on computers?). I also found out that a couple of my former co-workers are down in Waikiki attending the training I was *supposed* to have gone to. It would have been nice to be down there with them and doing some networking.

Other than that... I made reservations for a raft ride around the North Shore of Kauai for when my middle daughter & I go over there in about 3 weeks. It's a 6 hour ride, but includes stops for lunch and some snorkeling. I had a choice between the zodiac ride or a sailboat ride... though decision, but I went with the zodiak because they take you into some caves and under some arches, which I think will be pretty cool.

I've been watching "America's Got Talent" tonight and I'm bummed. They sent home that little girl from Hawaii. She's 8 years old, but wow... what a powerful voice she has! They sent people through that I didn't think should go through... David Hasslebach's stalker and the woman with a whip. There was even an older girl that didn't even sing as good. I'm VERY disappointed. I may even skip watching the show as a result - I'm that disappointed.

Okay... time to sign off.

Aloha!

Grumpy...

This is a picture I took up at Waimea Bay yesterday that I like. I thought I'd share it with you.

Work-wise... I could NOT get motivated to do much today at all. I should have stayed home for all that I didn't accomplish. I did prepare for my group tomorrow. I think I was feeling frustrated because I felt like I should have been at the training this week, and because someone dropped the ball, now I won't be able to get the training I want until late spring next year. GRRR. It's okay to be frustrated once in awhile... I just need to sit with the feeling awhile and then let it go and move on. And I will do that.

I'm watching the finale of "The Bachelorette" so I'll sign off for today.

Aloha!

Motorcycle riding and a beautiful sunset!

Here I am on my motorcycle getting ready to head out on my very first "Poker run" I didn't do very well on the cards, best I had was a pair of 10's. It was fun to ride with a group though and go from point A to point B, to point C. We met at Moanaloa Park, then headed over by the airport, then to Kailua on the other side of the island (our group rode around the south side of the island on the way over there), then we stopped about 3 miles from where I live and then the run ended in Kapolei. By about 2pm there were a few hundred motorcycles out there. It was neat to see all the motorcycles. I even ran into a couple people I knew.
Here's one shot of some of the motorcycles.

What a way to end the day... sunset up on the North Shore. I went up to Waimea Bay for a quick swim and cool down. Sure wa sa beautiful sunset, huh!
Now it's late and time for me to sign off.
Aloha!

THERE HE BLOWS!

What happens when a fireman gets gas? LOL! "There he blows!" Looks like he's got a case of the vapors! (Those were comments on the picture I took this afternoon, from my friend Donna!).

Thought you'd enjoy the picture. It's a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

Tee hee!

Swimming with the Honu

So... I went snorkeling this morning and had a great time (all things considered). I thought I'd share one of the short videos I shot today of honu (turtles).

First... I left home and got about 5 miles from the house when I realized I didn't have my wallet. So... I had to turn back around and come back home to get it. I had left my Ipod at work and wanted to use it when I went snorkeling, so I also had to stop by where I work to pick that up on my way up to the North Shore.

I had gotten my Olympus waterproof camera back in the mail yesterday (water had gotten into the battery compartment), so I charged the battery and decided to test it out today. Nope, they didn't get it fixed. (whatever is causing it to leak). SO... I've emailed them... but there went half my pictures from snorkeling at Shark's Cove. Fortunately, I had my Canon camera with me and the water-proof housing, so I returned the first camera to my car and went back out again with my Canon. I got some good pictures. I even went into some cave-like places, one of them had kind of a "blow hole" where the water would spray out over the top of the cave area. That was neat. There were also a lot of scuba divers out there today, and I got some neat pictures (trying to be creative) of BUBBLES. *smiles* Then, I got up on shore and I knew I wanted to go snorkeling at "Turtle beach" (Lanikea?). But I also realized that I hadn't emptied my memory card last night after I dumped my pictures on my desktop computer, so I decided to go through and delete pictures by date. Well... probably not the wisest thing to do in the sun's glare (I could have waited until I got up to my car). Guess what happened. Yep... I deleted all my Shark's Cove snorkeling pictures. GRRRR! Go figure. Oh well... I've got a lot of snorkeling pictures and God willing... I'll have opportunities to take a lot more. (Next month, right Michelle?).

My next stop was just outside of Haleiwa at Lanikea (sp) beach where there are ALWAYS turtles. I don't ever remember snorkeling there... I was surprised at how murky the water is. Yuk. I felt dirty snorkeling there. But... snorkel I did (I wash up good *smiles*). I swam quite a ways back and forth across the area. The first turtle I came upon was an old turtle (I'm not good at telling the sex, it has to do with the size of the tail). It was BIG too. I would say the shell was 36-40 inches in diameter at least. The 2nd turtle I saw actually snuck up on ME and startled me a little bit. He didn't like it too much when I tried to dive down so I could try to take a picture looking up from the bottom underneath him... he took off. I found a few others... another HUGE one that seemed to be as long as I was! (for real!). WOW. That was just amazing. I love watching the smaller turtles, but I'm amazed by the big ones. I saw at least a half dozen turtles and found some shells too. At least I didn't accidentally delete THESE pictures!

I think I may have gotten a little too much sun on my back side... I'm feeling it on the back of my lower legs (I was wearing swim trunks) and on my upper back. I did spray some sunscreen on a couple times.

On my way home, across the street from where I turn into my apartment complex, there was a HUGE gush of water going across the street (you had to drive about 20' blind!). Got a free car wash though. Maybe I'll go ahead and post the picture in a separate post. *smile*. I got an awesome shot (*I* think). I have a picture of the fireman, he's actually in the street trying to turn off the water with a long pole (with a wrench head on the end?). BUT... it looks like the water is coming out his rear! LOL! (You'll probably see it before you even read this now).

Other than that... I've just been chillin since I got home. I had a salad for dinner and I've taken the pups out a couple times. I also uploaded some pics (and the video) to my facebook account.

Okay... time to sign off. I've got to meet up with a bunch of people for some motorcycle riding tomorrow at 8am. I'm going to participate in my first "Poker Run" (I don't even know how to play poker!). LOL.

Aloha!

Bubba Gumps...

My nephew's kids... Brie (hiding behind the drinks) is the oldest, she's working this summer as a Lifeguard up in Spokane!
Victoria, who for some reason is the "child" I've had the least amount of interaction with when I have gone up to Spokane. She was a neat kid (I sat next to her)... she's sure grown up. She'll be in 8th grade this next year.

This is "Nonie" nicknamed after my Mom. She actually looks the most like my family (in my opinion), she has a pony-tail in the back that you can't see.

This is Riley, hamming it up for the Camera! *smiles* This is his second trip down here to Hawaii, as his "daddy" lives here, so a major purpose of the trip was so that Riley could spend some time with his dad. (My nephew & Riley's dad get along really well).

Devyn... the little darling. He's a cutie, but was getting tired by the end of the day.

I met my nephew, his wife and their four kids down at Bubba Gumps for dinner (mmmm, delicious!). It was good to see them and talk about "old times." It sounds like the had a better time the last time they were here (but that was their first time, so this time they had more children with them and there wasn't the "ooh-ahh" factor of the first visit to Hawaii. *smiles*
Work went okay today, it was fairly quiet. I like those kind of days! *smiles*
Okay... time to sign off... I've had a fairly busy night and now I'm tired.

Is it Friday yet?

So... I woke up yesterday and thought it was Thursday, today I woke up and thought it was Friday, I hope I wake up and remember to go into work tomorrow! *smiles*
Work went okay, I'm having some minor frustration with some computer access issues, but other than that... and trying to schedule some training for myself. I was supposed to go through training next week, but somehow the ball got dropped (it wasn't for lack of reminders from me!), but the good thing that may come out of it, is that I may get to travel to go for some training on the mainland. I'm wanting to learn how to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder better. One way that has been met with success is something referred to as EMDR. It stands for Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing. The idea is that by having movement back and forth in front of your eyes as you think about a traumatic memory it is supposed to reprogram your brain and lessen the trauma memory. (I'm sure someone could explain it better).
I thought I might have a chance to go to Philadelphia, but that training would have been in 2 weeks (yea... like they are going to get that paperwork done in time, when they have had 3 months to do the other paperwork). Come to find out the Philly training has been cancelled, so there is one in Baltimore and another one in the Seattle area. I'd like to go for the Baltimore training (it would be cool to spend some time down on the Wharf in Baltimore), but there is a little bit of conflict with the timing and other plans. The other option is the Seattle area training in mid-Sept. I might be able to swing a short trip over to Spokane to see my youngest daughter and granddaughter for the weekend (and my siblings). Time will tell.

Okay... gotta scoot!

Surf's up on the south shores today... hopefully the lifeguards weren't too busy!

Work went okay today, I had three or four clients that I saw and worked on documentation in preparation of case presentation coming up.

I posted this morning because I forgot to post last night *oops!*

Today is one of those days that there isn't much to write about. I was supposed go to a training next week dealing with PTSD, but it doesn't look like I will be going. My boss said if I don't go, there may be a chance I could go to a training either in San Antonio or Philadelphia - that would be neat. I'd like that. The trainings are in the early fall. I'll keep you posted on that.

Time to sign off... I'm watching "America's Got Talent" (I missed it last night).

Aloha!

Whoops!

My friend Bette emailed me this morning and reminded me I hadn't written my blog last night (whoops!). I just got busy playing that silly "Bejeweled" game. They reset the score every week, so I wanted to see how high of a score I could get. I did get over 98,000 (which is my highest ever), but then kept trying to beat it. I had also gotten an email invite for a Google Voice phone number and found a phone number that would be easy for me to remember, but when I had to go through the verification part, it wouldn't call my cell number to verfy. The google phone number is cool though. You pick out a phone number, give THAT one to everyone and all your calls get routed through it. You can have that same phone number ring at home, work or your cell (or all three at once), depending on how you set it up. For example, if my daughters were to call me at that number, I probably would have it ring through to both my cell phone and my work number (they don't call THAT often). If it is a number I don't recognize, I may send it directly to my voicemail and not even have it ring. You are also able to turn it off for certain hours of the day. Unfortunately, there are no Alaska or Hawaii prefixes available (so I was trying to set up a Spokane number). Anyway... I guess I got carried away with that last night and forgot to blog. *smiles*
Work went okay yesterday, I had 9 in my group and met with a client who is trying to stay clean and sober. I also had several phone calls to make. Overall it was a fairly busy day.
Time to sign off... because I need to finish checking my email and get ready for bed. I got up and took Peanut & Bruno out for their morning walk. It's one of the last things I do at night and first things in the morning.

Small flower...

This is just a small flower that grows outside my condo. It's a beautiful little flower.

Work went okay today. I had a doctor's appointment first thing this morning, just a follow up, nothing major. I love my doc, she's fantastic. I couldn't ask for anyone better. She is great at taking my feedback, or at least letting me give input. She *is* going to schedule me for an upper GI. She's actually put in a couple consults for me (but no one followed up and didn't call me). I didn't follow up, because the last time the one doc did mine, he started sticking the gastric tube down my throat before I was out. That was a little nerve wrecking! I think it left me a little gun-shy about going back. She said she would talk to another doc to see if he'd do it (if he's the one I've heard about, he's pretty good). Time will tell. They are just doing it to see why I have ongoing tummy aches. My doc asked me about diverticulitis... guess I need to read more about that.

This afternoon was our staff meeting and I met with one client and talked with a couple more.

Tonight I've been researching my Fort Lauderdale to Panama cruise in November. I've been looking at blogs that other have been on the reverse of this cruise to see what off shore tours they recommend. Time to start planning, although it's hard to believe that the cruise is more than 120 days away.

I've also been watching "The Bachelorette." *smiles*

Time to sign off...

Kbay day

Hi, thought you would enjoy some pictures from today. We had a great time, although only 6 of us showed up, along with the grandson of one of my co-workers. We had two that didn't make it, they both said they weren't feeling well this morning. Oh well... their loss.

We started off on the sand bar and then went down to the reef as the tide started coming up. There was only one other snorkeler besides myself. I think they are glad I am along... I get to hop in and set the anchor (and pull the boat when they decide they want the boat farther down the sandbar...pffft!).
This afternoon I just stayed home... I've been playing bejeweled... I took the dogs out for a little bit, I did up way too many dishes and cleaned the bathroom pretty thoroughly. Housework never seems to end!

For dinner I had grilled chicken and grilled veggies, and then had watermelon for desert. Mmmm.
Tomorrow morning I have a doctor's appt first thing, then will head out to work.
Okay... time to sign off... I'm watching "Meteor."

Aloha!

Ford Island

The lighthouse on Ford Island... it is in dire need of a make-over. There should be fund somewhere that people can send $1 dollar to, so that they can paint and restore it. It would sure be nice!

The back side of the USS Arizona Memorial as seen from Ford Island.

Huge Banyan tree on Ford Island... the trunk of the tree is wider than my car (the yellow one).
So... I had a good day today. I went and got my nails done, then went with a friend over to Ford Island. It was his birthday today and he said he wanted to go to the Pacific Air Museum on Ford Island, so I told him I would go with him. I've never been there before. I think if I had to choose between seeing the Arizona Memorial and the Museum, I'd definitely choose the Memorial. But, that's just me.
Other than that, I went and got a small rug for my living room to put by the door. The only problem is, is that it is a LOT bigger than I thought it was going to be. It takes up half my livingroom floor. I got it to put by the door because my puppies have decided that a favorite past-time is to chew on the edge of the carpet. (GRRR).
I also went to Nordstroms. I had $80 in gift certificates (when you spend x amount of dollars, they send you a gift certificate). I didn't buy too much, three tops that I can wear under other shirts (speghetti strap tank tops) and a new cloth bath mat for the bathroom floor. After there, I had to run over to Sam's club to pick up some snacks for tomorrow morning (going out on the Pontoon boat).
I went to my favorite restaurant in China Town ("The Little Village") and had some dinner and brought the rest home. I *love* their Garlic Fried rice, but I can't eat too much at any one time.
Okay... gotta scoot! Morning is going to come early! I have to meet Linda, one of my co-workers at 6am. (ugh!).
Aloha!

Pau Hana!

Want to head out to the KBay with me? I'm going out with friends again this coming Sunday morning. I do have one friend going out and then there will be several of my co-workers. I'm sure looking forward to going out there again! We plan to do some snorkeling out there this time.
Work went okay today, it seemed like I stayed steadily busy all day. I enjoyed going out for a bite to eat with most of my co-workers. I finally made a bunch of phone calls that have been on my to-do list all week, so it felt good to get that done.
Tonight I was going to head into town to see Jerry Santos at the Hilton Hawaiian Village but I ended up going to Ruby Tuesdays with a friend who is having a birthday tomorrow. It was a good dinner and I'm stuffed!
Okay... time to sign off for another night.
Aloha!

Expect the unexpected...

This was taken this past weekend up at Shark's Cove...

So... I didn't have any clients scheduled today and ended up seeing three of them. One of them came in to let me know the status of a court hearing... I've only had them for a client less than a month and met with both the husband and wife. Today I barely recognized him and could not recall what our first session was about. I kind of had to "play" along with what he discussed, then afterwards I pulled their chart and THEN remembered their situation. YIKES! I talked with my co-workers and was relieved that they have had similar experiences. So... I'm not alone there.

Other than that... I worked on charts today and had to make a bunch of work-related phone calls.

On another note... my oldest granddaughter was placed in a group home today. She's been having some behavioral problems so my daughter & son-in-law felt this was best at this time. Please keep them in your prayers. I'm hoping they will all be able to get some family counseling together to work on communication and getting along. I think one of my biggest concerns is with the timing. Today was my son-in-law's birthday and he's really close to my granddaugher. It's tough that he had to take her to a group home on his birthday. I'm sure it has made it hard to enjoy his birthday today. They *were* able to go down and pick her up tonight for soccer, and will be able to pick her up for her practices & games, so they'll get to see her a few times a week. She's in a home with three older girls, so it's not a real big home, thankfully.

Tonight after I got home I took my puppies over to the nearby little park and let them run and play. I love to watch them play their version of "tag." *smiles* And Bruno has found a way to torment Peanut.. he's taken to chewing on her tail!

Okay... I'm going to sign off. It's already bedtime.

Jumping off Waimea Rock!

Hello!

Hope everyone is doing well. Hope you like the video. I took it with my camera this past weekend. I've jumped off this rock, it's about 35 feet high. It doesn't look so high, until you are standing on top and looking down! *smiles*

Work went okay today, I stayed busy most of the day. I didn't leave until about 5:30 or so. One of these days I'll get back to just working 8 hours a day (that's all I get paid for).

Ok... time to sign off and hope this video comes through.

Sunset over the water...

I took this picture off my lanai last week, it was a beautifu rainbow over the ocean!

Work was busy today, I had group this morning with 8 clients and I had a new co-worker that sat in on the group with me. She's going to be a good addition to our workplace. This afternoon I had a lot of paper documentation to deal with, I met briefly with a walk-in that I'll see tomorrow and had to catch up on some voicemails (I had 8 to respond to). Tomorrow we staff our cases, but I am not presenting any cases, next time (in 2 weeks) I will.

Unofficially I found out that my nuclear scan came back okay... no tumors, so that's good. I still have to talk to the doctor. So... now I just *really* need to focus on getting more calcium (I did buy some yogurt yesterday!).

Not much else to write about today.

Aloha!

Puppy Pictures

So... my daughter Michelle asked me to post newer pictures of Peanut & Bruno. Bruno is growing! He is such a cutie. They weren't so cute this afternoon when I got home and they had shredded one of their cotton pads all over the living room floor. AFTER I got it picked up and then vacuumed, I realized I should have taken a picture. Maybe next time... I'm sure there will be a next time.
I had the day off today. I had my "nuclear scan" this morning. I got there after searching all over the place for parking. They gave me the radioactive injection, via a syringe that was encased in metal (I presume to protect the radioactive stuff). They gave me the injection in the same place that they normally take my blood from. I had to wait about 15-20 minutes after the injection and then had to get on the x-ray table, they put a pillow under my head/neck, and slid these trays in the side of my body area, to keep my arms at my side (and help me remain motionless easier). They also taped my head with a long piece of tape, to the table, again, to help me so I wouldn't move. Each scan takes about 10 minutes, except the last one, which was longer. After my first scan, I had to come back in about a 1/2 hour, then the next one it was about 45 minutes (I'd heard there was an hour between each scan, but I guess they had to account for set-up and getting me settled on the x-ray table). After my first scan, I went downstairs to the cafeteria and got breakfast because I wasn't sure if I was supposed to eat before hand (no problem). After the 2nd scan, I went downstairs to talk with some co-workers (they work at the main hospital, I work at a satellite location). I got updates on some issues I was dealing with at the end of the day on Friday at work. The third scan (was there only 3?) was the longest. On that one, instead of just taking the picture from above, they did it all the way around my neck/the table. Oh yea... someone who was claustrophic would probably have a rough time... In the first three, besides not being able to move for 10 minutes or so, the xray camera plate is about 2" from your nose (It's about 20X20 inches). On the last scan, the arm trays that keep you secured on the xray table interfere with the rotation of the xray camera, so they wrapped me up in a sheet like a mummy and then taped my head down, and then lowered that camera tray down to almost touching my face. And then I had to remain still for about 20 minutes! YIKES! I wasn't sure it was even okay to swallow (I did swallow though, when I had to). On the last x-ray, I think I kept dozing off. During each procedure I tried to practice relaxation/meditation techniques to help me remain still. Those who know me, know that I have a hard time when both of my hands are occupied... *something* always itches! LOL!
Other than that, I had to go by the pet store & pick up some more puppy pads (my puppies are pad trained). I also had to go to the Post Office to mail my son-in-law's Birthday present. Dang, that was expensive. Because of the size of the box, it cost me over $30 to mail! (I sure hope he likes his present(s)!). I wanted to mail off the damaged waterproof camera too, but I didn't realize that they don't have copy machines (didn't they used to???). I needed to make a copy of the receipt first. SO... I had to go someplace else and get a copy made and then come back and stand in line again at the Post Office. It *only* cost $20 to mail the camera (in a flat rate box, plus insurance). So... I spent over $50 at the Post Office today! Sheesh! After the Post Office, I did some grocery shopping and then had to haul the groceries upstairs to my apartment... only to find that the puppies had shredded one of their pads!
I couldn't find my motorcycle riding card (that shows I went through the training), so started to look for that. I could find one, but not the other. I finally called the Air Force base to see what I needed to do to get my bike re-registered, and found out I didn't need the motorcycle card (from the training). Go figure. Unfortunately, by that time it was 3:30 or so, and it would have taken me more than a half hour to get my bike uncovered, warmed up and ride in there. SO... I *didn't* get that done today. UGH!
Oh well. That's how MY day went. I will find out later this week what the results of the scan are. Instead of going in to see the Endocrinologist, when I stopped by the clinic today, they said I could just call and talk to the doctor. I should be able to call later this week for the results.
I'll let you know when I find out.
Okay... I'm watching the "Bachelorette" so I think I'll sign off.
Aloha!

A beautiful sunset!

Thought you might like these pictures from sunset tonight. It sure was beautiful and I really enjoyed seeing 3 turtles on the shore up there (where they come up to sleep and rest).
My day was nice and lazy. I slept in (first time I've done that in awhile) and then this afternoon I just played on the computer, did some chores and made chocolate chip cookies. Then I took the puppies up to the North Shore to watch the sunset.
Tonight I'm watching "Meteor" on TV... wow. They've had some good mini-series on TV that past month or so on Sunday nights.
Okay... time to sign off.

Shark's Cove

This was my snorkeling buddy today... he swam with me quite a bit and was swimming circles around me! *smiles*
It was a beautiful day to head up to Shark's Cove on the North Shore! The water was relatively calm.
For those who don't snorkel, there are a LOT of tide pools to be explored!

C'mon, let's go snorkeling! *smiles*
I had a good time. I only stayed in the water for about an hour, I had forgotten to take my rash guard to wear (that's like a sun-proof long-sleeved swim top that I wear). The only disappointing thing, was that once again, I didn't see any turtles! Darn it! I did some errands on the way home, stopping to pick up some birthday cards and other things I needed, and then I stopped and got an oil change. I've put the oil change off for too long! But, it's done now. When I got home, I walked the puppies over to a nearby park and let them run for awhile. They had fun.
Not sure what I'm going to do tomorrow. If I can get up early, I may head to the beach again. Tomorrow afternoon I am most likely going with some of my co-workers to see the play "The Wedding Singer." It should be fun.
I can't wait to post some more pictures this week. I stopped by Waimea Bay (above on the road) and took some pictures and a video of kids/people jumping off the rock.
Other than that... this morning was a little frustrating. I had gotten a Team Jersey (Green Bay Packers) for my son-in-law for his birthday (The one I got has his name on the back). I bought it about 6 months ago and just could NOT find it anywhere this morning. I even called my oldest daughter to see if I had maybe sent it up to her, but had forgotten that I did that. She checked her hiding places and said she didn't have it. BUT... in the course of looking this morning, I got my Olympus waterproof camera down to send in (I had used it about a half dozen times and then took it into the shark's cage with me last November and water managed to get inside). Anyway, I finally found the receipt I had looked all over for, it was in the box with the warranty. Go figure. Unfortunately, the 1 year was up in April. I'm hoping I can write them a letter and let them know I had only used it for about 6 months and maybe they'll fix it for free? Anyway, now I plan to send the camera in on Monday and keep my fingers crossed that they can fix it.
This evening when I started looking for the jersey again and finally found it. I thought it was in a clear plastic bag, so that's kind of what I had been looking for. It ended up being in a box on top of one of my bookcases. But, at least I found it and will get it shipped off with a couple other things for him. I found him a great birthday card today too... I'm sure he'll like it.
Okay... time to sign off.

Good Evening!

Do you want to come swim with me tomorrow? *smiles* I'm actually thinking about going up to the North Shore for some snorkeling... I'll have to see how long it takes me to drag myself out of bed in the morning!

Today was a VERY busy day at work. It started off slow and I was able to get some paperwork done. Then I got a call about a suicidal client, so I had the person come in as a walk-in and recommended further evaluation by a medical doctor. I can't say much more about the situation, because of confidentiality issues, but suffice it to say the client felt hopeless & helpless.
When I have a situation like that, many people have to get involved and there's a LOT of paperwork (I'll take the paperwork over the loss of someone's life!). So... I didn't get out of work until about 6pm.

I didn't get to go down and meet Carol & her husband who are here ready to head out on a cruise tomorrow. (Darn!). And when they return, they fly out that day. I did talk to her though and then I thought to send her some links of the Cruise Critic website (cruisecritic.com) it is one that I would highly recommend for anyone thinking about going on a cruise. For example, when I looked at the "Meet and Mingle" for the cruise Carol & her husband are going on, I found that several people were able to get cheaper rates than what they had paid for their cruise (the price had come down, but unless you ask them to give you the lower rate, they don't). I also sent her the link to "bryan's" page. He got on the ship I was on from Auckland to Hawaii. He got on here in Hawaii and sailed around the island and then on up to Vancouver. He did an (almost) daily blog while on the cruise and then posted his pictures on a website. So, I sent Carol those weblinks.

Not much else going on, I just came home and had some dinner and enjoyed a relaxing evening, playing with my puppies and surfing the web. It was a good way to end the day.

Okay... time to sign off!

Hello...

Picture Perfect Hanauma Bay

Today was a busy day, much busier than I expected it to be. I spent a lot of time on the phone dealing with client issues and then this afternoon I had two new clients. SO... I was busy. I thought about staying late to finish paperwork, but decided to come on home, get a bite to eat and watch some TV and deal with my internet addiction *smiles*.

Looking forward to the weekend. I plan to get my oil changed on my car, and hopefully hit the beach if the weather is conducive. I'm also hoping to meet someone here who had posted on my blog, they are on the island from California and will be going on a cruise around the island. They board on Saturday.

Okay... time to sign off.

Aloha!

Wednesday...

So... a rather un-eventful day. I met with a client first thing this morning (and then had a lot of paperwork to deal with afterwards), my boss gave me a new client to contact and then I met with a client that I have seen consistently for a couple years now. So... a couple things today... I have a pet peeve. (wow... I know you're surprised!). I have a problem with people who date or marry someone who is young enough to be their child (or old enough to be their parent). To me there is just something wrong with that! Another issue came up in that I had a client tell me that someone they knew, stole some prescription drugs from them. I tried to convince that person to let their doctor know, but they don't want to get the person in trouble, they just want to see that person get help. So... do I notify their doctor (within our system) that their client might be abusing drugs? Is that a violation of ethics?

Not much going on tonight... did some chores and I've been playing "Bejeweled." (what a time waster!).

My youngest daughter is supposed to fly up to Alaska tomorrow for her best friend's wedding. It is something that she has been planning for several years. I'm glad she gets to go back up there (my daughter was raised for the majority of her life, in Alaska). She was trying to get her tickets changed so she could stay longer. When she first made her reservations, she didn't think she could take any time off from work, so only planned to go for a long weekend, but now she has the opportunity to stay a little longer... hopefully she'll be able to that.

Okay... time to sign off.

Aloha! Have a great day!

So-so day...

Today was a so-so day... I did group this morning, only had 7 clients today. That's about the right size group that I like. This afternoon I did documentation. I didn't feel very good this morning, there's something about when I eat a granola bar for breakfast.

I called and talked to my older sister today (and emailed my younger sister). Today would have been our Mom's birthday. I also got to send a couple text messages to my oldest granddaughter. I finally called her to see how her trip to Anchorage this past weekend turned out. It sounds like she had a good time.

Which reminds me... every day I check the news in Spokane (where I'm from originally) and in Alaska, where I used to live, and I also check the weather. I'm surprised at how often they are the same temperature, or when Fairbanks is warmer than Spokane. They've had some nice hot days up in Fairbanks the last week or so.

I just found out that the person that asked me about Hawaii and what to wear & do is heading down tomorrow for Hawaii. I hope they have a great time!

Okay... time to sign off. I'm watching "American Roadtrip."

Aloha!

Attitudes

I woke up this morning and thought "It's Monday and I've got to drive into town, in rush hour traffic to the meeting, is it Friday yet?" Then I took a shower and thought about my attitude and decided to reframe my thinking and wrote this on my facebook "I realized that I should have a more positive attitude this morning. I thank God for the beautiful weekend I had, full of boogie boarding, snorkeling and motorcycle riding in Paradise. I am thankful for having a great job to go to that pays me well and that I get to work with people who truly care about others. I'm looking forward to the challenges that this new week will bring. *smiles*

See... doesn't that sound better than dreading it was Monday?

I spent the morning in meetings and this afternoon we celebrated a co-worker's birthday. I had a no-show and had to talk to a couple people in regards to clients. And... I had to prepare for my group tomorrow (which is on Feelings & communication).

After work I did some grocery shopping and then tonight I've just been home watching TV. Not too exciting (and I've been playing with my puppies).

Time to sign off...

Motorcycle riding...

This was up at Dillingham field (where I went for the glider ride a couple weeks ago).
There was one more bike, for some reason, I didn't get it in either of the above pictures, it was a 3-wheeler trike (a really nice bike!).
Olomana Mountain. I've never stopped here before (the above parking lot where we stopped), but just past where we stopped... on down the road, is where I went on the Maunawili hike a few years ago.
This is a view from the He'eia State park, looking out toward the Sandbar, where I was last week and where I'll be in a couple more weeks.

So... I have had a really good weekend (other than losing my nano pod), I got to go boogie boarding, I got to snorkel at Hanauma Bay and I got to spend a day riding my motorcycle (and thinking of my friend Janis... it's her bike I ride and it's her Harley boots that I wear). Our bike ride took us a LONG way. We met for breakfast at Sizzlers, and then we rode all the way out to Dillingham Field where I did my glider rides, and we came around the back side of the field where they were sky-diving (how cool... makes me want to try that again), then we came in and headed the long way around to Haleiwa on the North Shore... wound our way around, stopping for rest breaks every now and then. We came back across the Pali, and had to stop for a few minutes and wait for the President from Taiwan, he was headed up the Pali as we were coming down. We rode around through Makiki Heights and came back down Punahou where I used to live. From there we rode on down through Waikiki on our way up to Diamond Head Look out. We stopped at Kapiolani Community College and then went to the Market City area for lunch at a Mexican restaurant. From there we headed out past Hanauma Bay, past Sandy's and Mokapu'u, through Waimanalo and we turned off near Olomana for a break. From there it was basically good-bye... as those who lived in town went back over the Pali and the rest of us came across the H-3. I think today was the first time I've ridden my bike over the H-3. One guy headed on up to Wahiawa, while the others of us headed out west, I waved good-bye to Forest and his wife and came on home. They met me at the gas station about 8:30am, and I didn't get home until about 5pm. Granted we had several 10 minutes stops along the way... but we had a FULL day of riding. I think I put 150 miles or so on my bike.
Okay... time to head to bed. Tomorrow I have to be into town early for a meeting (7:30am in town and have to deal with rush hour traffic). Hope everyone is doing okay!
Aloha!
